Is it just polyphony (and keyboard obviously)

I searched a little but Im just curious as to if they have the same engine

You can't x-fade between two patches on the micro Q. Same sound engine, though ...

The only differences are the polyphony and the number of knobs on the interface - the MicroQ uses a 4-knob matrix style editing, rather than dedicated knobs like the Q. I think the MicroQ is one of the best bargains out there - you can usually find a 2nd-hand one for under $300.

Well, the keyboard is not really a distinguishing feature of the Q because there is also a rack-mount version of the Q, and there is a keyboard version of the MicroQ.

These pages will help:

I FORGOT THERE WAS A RACK VERSION FOR THE Q

BUT YEAH X FADE IS NICE TO HAVE

ALTHOUGH I GUESS YOU CAN DO A SIMILAR EFFECT WITH MULTI MODE AND A COUPLE OF MIDI VOLUME CONTROLS

* Uber knobbage (Q) versus matrix (Micro)
* No xmorph function on the micro.
* In multi, the there is only one 2nd FX block , everything else has a send value. The Q has 2 fx per part.
* Q is 16 voices. Full stop. Micro is dynamically allocated from either 12 (lite), 25 (Garden) or 75 (Omega) depending on the version.
* Sound generation has differences, due to the above.

There is other stuff.

anyone aware as to how to upgrade the microQ
alanzo
From my source for everything Waldorf ...

Lower quality DAC's on the microQ, no PPG filter, no x-morph, no variable filter routing, no step sequencer, and the effects allocation is different.
