i don't really think people who party every weekend are addicted to drugs. it's more like they are addicted to fun.

i have to agree with vivid boy on this, that really is kinda wrong. that was my mindset, i didn't think i was abusing alcohol or anything just because i was going out every weekend. and i was still an ace during my class (graduated with a 93%). but this "weekend warrior" is that starting/beginning phase of abuse/addiction.
the whole stereotype that people who abuse/addicited to alcohol are the ones who drink in their closet and have bottles stashed all around their house, is along the same lines as the stereotype that you can only get raped by that stranger in the dark who stalks you as you walk home from a party alone. |

there's a huge difference between someone who clubs/parties every weekend and drinks and does blow and then someone who literally sits in their home and blows all their money on drugs just to get ed up alone in the livingroom. i mean eric admits to doing blow and being a loser (or less of one) in his early 20s. he should know what i'm talking about if anything.
but yea there are also lots of people who party every weekend and they are REALLY crackheads....like you can tell they have a major problem with drugs. i'm sure it's a little of both in that whole scene. i was just talking about the people who got all their partying out of their system and have matured now and clubbing isn't important any more, nor are the drugs. that's kinda where i stand. |

ok that makes more sense now.
however, i must digress, that addiction is addiction. you can have the same consequences in varies aspects of life by going out and drinking until you blackout; or staying in and drinking until you blackout. |

| and the reason why i mentioned that is because the thread starter made it sound all serious like, "ADDICTION/RECOVERY from clubbing" :stongue: |

which makes sense....if you've really gone down hill to the point where you ended up in rehab/therapy/etc... chances are you can't go back to a club environment and not have a drink/do drugs. because the mentality of "oh, i'll just have one" leads to "holy where am i and why am i in someone else's clothes :wtf: ".
this isn't always the case; but a valid one no less. |

| but what im saying jamie is whether or not your doing it every day or just on weekends, its a cycle. you do it every weekend. so by definition it is still an addiction. maybe not a hardcore addiction, but still an addiction. |

but relapsing doesnt mean all of a sudden you do one hit and 10 mins later you did 100 hits. it could mean you did one hit and now your back to doing it every weekend again. |

yea actually there was this guy that would always randomly show up at afterparties we were at and be that one dude that was ready to kill someone for a bump of coke:stongue: it was such a buzz kill. like relax dude, just go do a shot you'll feel better:stongue: |

right; which is why i said that wasn't the only case.
however, if you were getting in trouble and having problems/consequences in life because of your weekend drinking; you can have that same situation pop right back up if you choose to start up again.
"oh, i'll just drink on friday night" can lead to "omg its monday morning and i'm late for work and still drunk and can't remember anything"
again, crude example; but it IS possible |
