Virus B & FL Studio 8 - have I missed anything

Got my Virus connected and talking to FL Studio last night. All seems well with the midi & audio for playback. Just wanted to check that how I've done it is right and that there isn't something important I've missed.

-Midi signals sent to Virus on Port 1 using the 'MIDI Out' plugin

-The 'enable midi master sync' button isn't checked, does it need to be??

-The Virus doesn't appear as a midi device when I re-scanned for midi devices (I have both midi in and out connected) but the LCD display on the Virus clearly indicates it is a receiving a midi signal, and of course it makes a sound! So all seems to be well, just wondered why it doesn't appear in the devices list?

I haven't tried rendering an arrangement to hard disk with a Virus sound yet, so I'm not sure if the audio recording settings are ok.

Like I said, anything really obvious I've missed??

Many thanks

Try it and see. If you hook everything up and there are no problems, then don't make any by seeking them out. :)

Ah! That might explain it. Had a play tonight, working well, seems like I got it right. Thanks for the replies.

That's correct - MIDI devices which show up in sequencers will be devices which allow MIDI in and out of your computer - that is the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT on your audio interface/ dedicated MIDI interface.

I don't know about the MIDI master sync option. You could try recording an extended sequence with and without it, see if it makes a difference. You could try automating the song's tempo, that may expose sync issues? Meh, I'd say just use as is and only click the sync option if there's a problem.
