meh, it's a game - seems like people on EDM-focused forums seem to be all upset over this (yet have no issues with Guitar Hero/Rock Band).

Don't have that much interest in this game, but not really into the whole rock band thing either. More a lacking of interest than anything else.

Game is actually more fun then I expected it to be. My BF bought it - I was skeptical and thought it was going to be kind of lame.

But, I've played it for a few hours -- and it's pretty fun. Takers a bit to get use to the controls. It's nothing like 'real' DJing (obviously, never expected it to be).

There seems to be a nice mix of tracks, a few of the mash ups are actually pretty cool and well done.

Game-play is kind of neat. Still sticking to Easy mode for now mostly but that's still hard. Pretty much

- 3 buttons to press
- There is some element in the track that pressing the button syncs up with. Might be the kick, or a vocal sample, sound effect, etc. Pressing it in time hits the sample and keeps that track running - miss the press and the sound cuts out on that element then slowly fades back in.
- Scratching takes a bit to get used to but is fun once you get the hang of it.

Difficulties above easy start using the cross-fader, fun to flick around -- but the difficulty of it jumps /really/ fast.

As a Rhythm game, it's pretty fun. As an accurate representation/emulation of DJing? it sucks. But, I'm playing it to play a game, not to emulate DJing.

I laughed when I first heard about this.......but I've heard from a few people that its actually pretty cool......Not much for video games myself....but wouldn't mind trying this out.

i tried it out for like 3 minutes at the EB games near my work.

meh...not bad...could be fun but i bought the rockband beatles kit instead...

however the mashups that i heard were pretty good.

apparently they are coming out with new age dj hero.

Basically its ableton live and all you have to do is cut and paste/drag and drop.

Oh wait... thats the real thing. never mind LOL!!

I found that it took me awhile to get used to the controls. My first few tracks left me thinking "this is pretty lame", but after ~30 or so minutes I started to get a better feel for it.

Doesn't 'demo' very well - rock band I got into how it works within the first few bars of the 1st track, the turntable isn't quite as intuitive.

The layout of your mixer / turntable and where you have the buttons on it make a big difference in ease of use also, had to try a few different combos until I found what felt right.

i would hope that if this gets popular they will branch out into house, trance etc for those who are really into dj culture like they did with the beatles etc.

its funny but you actually nailed it right on the head. Thats exactly how i felt after playing for a few minutes. totally doesn't play well as a short demo game. you need to give it time i think. I guess I'll give it another shot though since I just bought rockband for like 150 bucks, it'll have to wait.
