Hey! I am just as big fan of Italo-Disco as Karim is :D . He knows ;). I absolutely looooooooooooooooooooove italo-disco. I will make my third italo-disco mix (first officially) for the mixes forum, this summer.

Laserdance is one of my favourites groups - but the genre is space synth / synthesizer dance, not quite italo-disco (its italian, as in the name). Laserdance aka Michiel Van Der Kuy is dutch! But he's a genius, and has many other great aliases such as L.A. Style (OLDSKOOL RAVE/HOUSE!!!), Lovechild, Fire On High, Area 51, Perestroika Power, ETC.

Notables: :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:

This is the highest ranked / most wanted italo-disco track on Discogs (without a doubt):

Absolutely LOVE and admire Italian women  FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN

as for Michiel Van Derk Kuy:

Thats a bloody cheap rip off! :whip: :disbelief I gave that artist 1/5 for effort.

On another thought - seems like more people on here are talking about space synth / synthesizer dance than italo-disco. There are several labels for it out, one of the more prominent and currently active ones out there is Hypersound Productions, I've been collecting their CD's for a while now. Check it out. I am a huge fan. Especially of the following artists on their large discography: Based On Bass, Daylight (and other Humphrey Robertson productions), Area 51, Jan Schipper, Marco Rochowski, Tom Lacy.

Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/label/Hypersound+Productions

Here is a megamix version of their latest release - in my wantlist:

yeah I know most of the tracks I posted don't really fit in Italo Disco, but it. I'm interpreting this thread to be synthy tracks from the time period hehe :p
