KENNY GLASGOW - "TASTE FOR THE LOW LIFE"
(Full Length Artist Album)

This is the debut album from Kenny Glasgow and it is quite simply one of the best electronic albums you will hear in 2009.

Glasgow has a rich and long musical history dating back to the early nineties where he began his musical career in Toronto, Canada as a promoter, DJ then producer. From his early days running illegal warehouse parties to residencies at spots like the acid house mecca "The Buzz" (Toronto's first ever after hours) and later the world famous Industry Nightclub, Kenny has been a major contributor to this culture since it's birth. As a producer he started recording in the early nineties working with Noel Nanton for the legendary Jinx Records as well as Roger Sanchez’s Narcotic. He later went on to record as part of Method men and Unabomber with musical partner Mario J, racking up remixes for the likes of Strictly Rhythm, Azuli, Manifesto etc.

Over time Glasgow’s sound has evolved from the early influences of garage and disco through the strains of Chicago House and on to what has become a unique amalgam of techno, house and electronica. He has been responsible for DJ mix albums in the past, most notably the ‘Toronto mix Session’ for Tiga’s Turbo Recordings, but this is his first artist album, his first real opportunity to open a window into his musical soul. This album has been 20 years in the making.... and it has certainly been worth the wait.

‘Taste for The Low Life’ is a simply stunning LP, a warm, organic and incredibly mature album that reaffirms why dance music is still so exciting. From the opening piece you are wrapped in a cocoon of incredible sounds that resonate with every seam of dance music’s history. Tracks such as ‘System Overload’ & ‘The Keeper’ have an old school melodic quality that bring to mind luminaries such as Derrick May and Carl Craig. Now that may be saying something but it is something that has to be said, Glasgow’s music really does stand up with the best of them and as the album develops it’s like finding techno’s lost son.

From the techy bounce of ‘Dance to da House’ to the beautiful deepness of ‘The Sandman’ this album shines through. ‘Sayin in Berlin’ brings a retro electro vibe to bear with brilliant simplicity and warmth whilst closing track ‘Can You Feel It’ (featuring Kenny's vocals) is a sparse but incredible piece of house music.

In ‘Taste for the Low Life’ Kenny Glasgow has presented an album that draws together the snap shots of his 20 year career and creates a masterpiece that goes beyond ones expectations and delivers something truly special.
