Sorry, I'm no expert like many of you, but I know there's lots of n00b lurkers here. I know, I was one! Hehehe
If you're looking for simple, awesome, straight to the point and RELEVANT Ableton Video tutorials, Sonic Academy is your new favorite website!!!
They make everything so easy, I actually understand it! I saw the free tutorials on YouTube, than I said IT! And Subscribed for one year! Well worth it!
Some of their tutorials recreate JUSTICE, DEADMOU5, MARK KNIGHT, THE PRODIGY and more!!! EN AWESOME!

Dude you should have messaged me on AIM!!! I've got a guy who could teach you everything you wanted to know not just about Ableton, but about ANYTHING music related. He offers a course on the different DAW's and you receive a certificate after the class. He's actually a college professor, albeit a young one.
Private lessons are $40 an hour. Each lesson also has homework that you can do to polish what you learned.
Most importantly, these are not videos that can get you lost or confuse you and leave you with no recourse. With my guy, everything is handled on a personal level. Not recorded videos. Check out his website.

Dude...$40 an hour compared to 20 hours of vids(and a lot more) for $100. That's all I'll say.
On that note.....anybody interested in buying some shamwows? |

You really don't need any of that stuff. Reading stuff online and watching free video tutorials will cover you far better. , you can learn quite easily from reading the manual.
You certainly don't need to pay to learn how to recreate deadmau5. Asking him might be more effective. |

| Sounds ok for the price but its nothing you cant learn through reading on the web and trial and error. Why would you want to pay money to sound like another artist? |

This is a pretty tired viewpoint. You're always going to benefit by knowing how other people do things, and just because you take the time to recreate a track made by so and so producer doesn't mean all you want to do is sound exactly like him. |

Exactly what I was thinking. Not only a tired viewpoint but an ignorant one too.
Same goes for saying you can learn from just free internet tuts and reading. Granted..I can put together beats in cubase and ableton from being self taught, but if you can pull one or two new techniques from sonic academy or elsewhere, isn't that worth it? Well to me it is, I'm 29 and have no musical background at all and just decided I want to learn to produce muisic. I've come a far way in the last few months but I need all the help I can get. Thinking about suscribing to Sonic Academy. |

That's exactly how I feel. Maybe they got the wrong idea from my post, but Sonic Academy doesn't just show you how to build a track like Deadmou5, it's a lot more than that. That's just an added bonus.
They have an extensive video library. Below are just same samples.
Plus, you can also download all the files & samples they used so you can see what they did.
I'm a visual learner, I learn by seeing others. I don't regret this one bit.
Maybe Sonic Academy is not for everyone, but it's perfect for me.

| Wow that's a lot, I'm even more convinced. As a 1 year suscriber you can access all of their videos correct? I'd be more interested in a house (tech, electro) section, although it would be benificial to learn trance as well. |
