Virus TI 1 / 2 / Snow / Polar / What's The Difference?!

This is the BIG QUESTION that's probably boggling everyones minds and I'm looking to buy one just don't know the difference between any of these...

I work with the Virus TI 1 model and I know it's amazing but what's the difference between the first model and now the new second model (Virus TI 2) aside from prices and 25% more control bla bla bla?

I want to actually know what's better, has anyone ever played with both and KNOWS the difference? are the FX really much better? Delays reverbs etc... ?

Also:
What's the difference between the Virus TI and Snow Edition?

What's the difference between the Virus TI and Polar Edition?

Basically my goal is to save money and I want to know whether or not to get a Virus TI 1 or 2 or if the other two synths do the same work, unless they're more limited...

Any help will help!

cheers

Save $$. :)

At the present time, the only advantage of the TI2 vs TI is the "25% more power". Their marketing may fool some, but they will both run the same v3.0 software. The Polar/Keyboard's only advantage is the attached keyboard, and the Snow has a single DSP (1/2 the polyphony), and the Virus|Control software only allows for four different sounds (aside for its obvious physical differences).

ya thats only US shipping and when converting to CAN dollar and paying taxes in the end itll be the same as used in long and mcquade store here :D

but about the version 2, people say they might upgrade future software which will show the new capabilities of it...... is this possible? ;)

Sure it's possible but no one can say if they'll do this. Access has been quoted as saying "The TI line is here to stay" or something along those lines thus hinting that the original TI will continue to run the same software as the TI2.

alright i think you just sold the TI 1 for me hehe

tnx

oh last question, what does the 25% more power mean exactly?
its faster or it can handle more sounds at once? because the TI 1 version is already fast and can handle enough sounds to play at once
Shade
Ron, check how much it is at Moog before you by from Long & McQuade.

25% more voices... if the TI 1 has 80 voices the TI 2 would have like 100 voices.

And you can all just shut it, i have a Virus B with 24 voices. :whip:

In addition to that, the TI|2 hardware is also a lot lighter than the "old" TI's. I have a TI Polar and it's freakin' heavy!

mm didnt think of moog :D ill check it out

but who cares lighter or heavier, what do you need ur device to float?! its sitting down on a stand anyways... ;)

So if the Virus TI weighed 100lbs you wouldn't think anything of it?

palm
who needs more than one voice anyway?

Well, when you're dealing with something as crappy as the Virus, unison helps ... ;) Lest we not forget, before the revolutionary TI, the Virus wasn't nearly as highly regarded.
