lol. i have no idea then what's up with what entrance the 'hollywood' promoters are using this Sat nite. maybe they tested the rear entrance and went back to the front... either way, if you are on the list via Giant (or via me here) or Insomniac or 2am, go in the usual place. and if you are on one of the outside promoters list, it should be easy to figure out which entrance to use when you get there (hollywood blvd or rear table service entrance)...

Christopher tore it up at Ruby Skye in SF last night, best set I've heard from him ages. Wicked set. Got a bad hangover and need to get back into the city to find my car, but a great night all up. Have a good one in LA tonight.

CL played alot more tech than psy. What surprised me the most is how he managed to pretty much clear the room out by 230. It was a pretty slow night for a CL show at vangard, the room was half empty by 3ish

Economy is hurting the clubs. Seems like Vanguard has been having smaller crowds lately. Last night. at Ferry...and just looking at pics of the crowds in between...at least compared to the past, def seeing smaller crowds in the pics and bye eye witness accounts

Avalon last night seemed full, but I you don't really see a lot of good full crowd shots in pics and stuff so I dunno how it has been in the past. But jesus, I wish I had a video camera to film the corner of the crowd on the right side of the stage....it was like a 40 person washing machine mashup. I couldn't stop staring....startling! lol.

That's why you don't see full crowd shots :)

I wouldn't say the room cleared out, from where we were it seemed most people stayed to the end. It was one of the busier nights I've been to in LA for a while, it does seem the numbers are dropping at some of the shows.

I guess that's natural in a recession, same as what happened after 9/11 (for those of us old enough to remember, sigh!)

The girls in our group loved Christopher's set, we were dancing like mad up the front most of the night. We thought it was one of the best sets we'd heard from Christopher at Vanguard in a while, it had a real groove to it. I'm not a fan of techy stuff and I personally wouldn't describe Christopher's sound as techy, maybe more psy influenced hard progressive. But I don't think that's a real genre, just more how I would describe it :whip:

My friend Jenna had her bachelorette night on Sat and she had people buying her drinks all night, but then again that usually happens to her, guys seem to gravitate towards her. Some guy bought us a bottle of champagne which was very much appreciated and was drunk in about a minute flat by us girls.

BTW 72hrpartyanimal, we didn't get our male stripped delivered to Vanguard, he arrived at our pre-drinks party, but that's another story ;)

I would say the majority (pre 230 am stuff) would be considered tech trance. He played a bit of more of the progressive psy stuff after 3am. His set had a few great moments, but by the time he was really hammering out the psychedelic stuff the room lacked energy.

I think the economy is definatly taking its toll. Last time I saw CL at vangard it was a complete mad house
