Hi-

Does someone know where I can find synth programming sites or tutorials?

I'm also looking for other synth related sites.

Thanks :)

hmm.. what exactly do you mean when u say synth programming? and are you talking about hardware or software synhts?
Michael Russo
There isn't any difference b/w the two...
BenB
I mean creating sounds with synth programming, and it doesn't matter if it's for hardware or software synths, because there no difference between them like Michael Russo said.

Thanks for the help. ;)

well i meant specifically, such as reason or lets say the supernova.

there is a difference, even though the general concepts stay the same.. for example reason doesnt have arpeggiator programing like the supernova.. and low/band/hi filters, with adjustable filter widths, tracking, and Q amounts.. 3 envelopes per part, each with individual attack decay, sustain, release, with control triggers such as unison, osc modes, glide types, DCO / VCO modes, porta types.. LFO's with syncs, range, triggering, delay, and offset.

there are generally many more features of hardware synths involved with the programming, than software.

Basicly, Hardware is still a lot better than software, people keep on asking how they make those warm sounds? Get a hardware Va or Analogue synth ;) , you'll go way further than fruityloops and other crap, reason and reaktor can sound good if you know about programming but still.. If you want to learn bout synthesising I think the wet dream is the jp8000, one knob/funcion design :eyespop: :eyespop: If you don't have the money go for a 2nd hand an1x. These are both very powerfull synths that can create all analogue sounds you are after to make those trancy leads.

if you ask me I'D...go play with it and you'll learn and never forget...that's how I made it...of course after that someone came and told me the functions but I already knew everything...so you can make it too...if you really want to :) :) :)

Thanks DJ Ahter. I've started analyzing some patches now, and it really is helpfull. I also decided to order an synth programming book. People who are intrested in such kind of books can take a look at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com. They also have other audio related books wich you might like, like books about mixing, recording, etc.
