kuyt works hard, but he's not that really good. kinda like Scouser version of Chad Barrett. haha

I do follow EPL and I've been a Hammers supporter since 2001. take that for what you will

Don't know who Barrett is to be honest... So I've nothing to add. Regardless - to say Dirk's not really good - is like saying Rooney is just OK. Scrapers and goalscorers - beautiful players to watch.

In any event - no need to hijack the thread... I'll get us back on topic... Ronaldo's a muppet!

Check him out celebrating his move to the WWE err SPD "in Paris".

Let's hope the European leagues don't engage the idea of playoffs :wtf:
People, much of that sum is the transfer fee and a differential percentage is contributed into the players salary. The kid is talented no doubt but to my mind Real & Man Utd. are controlling the player trafficing and stealing all the youngest talents. It pisses me off how european football has become commercial and to think it making it better got worse :whip:

What do you mean by differential percentage? The 80 million pounds is the fee agreed by manchester united and real madrid for Ronaldo, once agreed on it is up to Ronaldo to negotiate wages and contract terms with Madrid......none of the transfer fee itself is contributed to salary as far as i know....thats between Ronaldo and his new club.

How are United and Madrid, or any of the big clubs trafficking and stealing players? Obviously they aren't going to field 11 players week in week out that have all come through the academy, so in turn they purchase players. But by saying trafficking and stealing that makes it sound a but harsh. Which young player wouldn't want to play for the one of Europe's most storied clubs and solidify themselves with European and domestic success. United doesn't traffic or steal anyone. In fact I'd say its the other way around, if someone openly says they do not want to be at the club, Sir Alex is more than happy to offload them, and tbh any reputable and respected manager in Europe would do the same. When a player is transferred they must agree to terms with their new club before the deals officially complete, and if they can't then it won't go through. So this notion that Madrid and United control the transfer market is ridiculous, they aren't signing anyone that doesn't want to be their, and their not forcing teams to sell.

Best of luck to Ronaldo I say, he was pivotal in last years European and domestic success, but always wanted to move to Madrid eventually and if his heart wasn't at United anymore, then its best he leave.

Totally agreed - and in regards to Becks, Sir knew exactly when to deal him, it was time for him to go.

As for Ronaldo, he was talking about leaving last year as well. It really drives me off the wall when a player talks about how playing on another squad would "be a dream". Look at the ing crest on your chest you wanker and remember where you are.

this is the age of football where team loyalty means nothing. heck, even contracts mean nothing

bunch of mercenaries, most of the players are (and their greasy agents)

latest player to stir the pot? Mascherano linked to Barca and Real (by his agent making noise)

Real & Man Utd. are currently the reachest clubs in the world and therefore they can do whatever they desire, in particularly purchasing all the best players in the world. It's not harsh but that's the reality.
All other clubs other than Bayern, Barcelona & Chelsea are poor and in debt. In order to get out of debt is to sell key players and so to speak AC Milan approached the opportunity with Kaka.
The absurd part is Ronaldo's transfer. For both of these clubs it's a piece of cake; Sitting down in front of an oval table, smoking cigars and drinking some good old whiskey, finally signing the contract. The fact is both of these organizations are filthy rich and all players make top euros so who wouldn't want to play? :haha:
There's talents in the academy. What's wrong with academy players? They aren't good enough to play in the world's top leagues? What's the point then of having one if you never give a chance to the true players who heart & show pride for the club? Most them sit on the bench, rarely receive gametime, placed on reserve and it's quite frankly sad.
Europe's most historical and successful clubs are Real & Man Utd.? :stongue:

I'll agree that Madrid has the tendency of going out and simply just purchasing a starting 11, but United is a different case. Ferguson gets MAYBE 40 million pounds, if that, to spend in the summers, peanuts compared to what Madrid, Milan and Chelski do routinely. In fact, most years we have to sell before we can even buy. United going out any buying all the top players? Really? I think your confusing us with Citah.

Umm Chelski are hundreds of millions of pounds in debt. Yet have spent over 260 million pounds + on players in the last 4 years

Selling your key players means runnign the risk of loosing out on champions league football or worse, relegation. Each worth about 30 millions pounds a year in television and gate revenue. So unfortuantly, getting out of debt is not as easy as simply selling all your key players...

United doesnt use academy players? Rubbish. United have one of the most storied academies in European football and a considerable amount of time is put into developing players that DO play first team football. Lets run down the list from this year alone, ALL played an integral part as well, they arn't just bench players coming on for injury time...

Scholes
Giggs
Neville
Fletcher
O'shea
Wellbeck
Brown
Maceda

Can Madrid say the same? doubtful

Just because United cashed in on Ronaldo it doesn't mean we're controlling the transfer market and "purchasing all the best palyers", like some teams. We're in like 5 hundred million pound debt right now, we've never been a club that spends on a whim. Ferguson makes excellent decisions who to bring in that can play his system, and most of the time it works out, but we're not like Madrid and Chelsea who hand out blank cheques at will.

The bottom line is Madrid wanted to buy, we didn't want to sell. But they offered an enormous amount of money and Ronaldo wanted to leave, what would you have us do? That we cannot control.
