| my video card has 8 MB of shared RAM. i assume this means that my video card does not have any memory on it, but rather it steals 8 MB from my system RAM. if this is the case, how can i allocate more memory for use by my video card? |

You assume right. It is likely that you can adjust the amount of RAM being nabbed by the video card in your computer's BIOS. I wouldn't recommend trying this however as changing settings in the BIOS can cause your computer to not work properly or at all. Also, if your computer is anything like my previous one, and I suspect it is, you will not be able to increase the amount of allocated memory - you'll only be able to decrease it, which frankly is about as useful as me in general.
It may be an idea to attempt to track down a PCI graphics card. Getting hold of one of these may prove time-consuming and costly as they are quite rare nowadays, but it's either that or a whole new computer. :( |

| get a agp or pci video card then disable it in the bios if it is possible. i think u can change it in bios but i depend on what chipset u have. Integrated video sucks. |
