Do you understand why it's always good to hear about getting your life on track, but the pointing out of it being 1/2 of 2009 might seem arbitrary and unnecessary to some people?

Just a suggestion that looking at things like "Well, it's been 1/2 of the year. I NEED to get my together." isn't as effective as constantly needing to have your life together no matter what point in a year it is. It's good that at least you have some point where enough is enough (1 half of a year), but if you looked at thing like ". 1/4 of 2009 has passed, no way am I going to let things get worse." You'd be better off. If that point was 1/8th, you'd be even better off! And so on and so on. Imagine if you were in a mindset that one bad day was too much and worked to make the other 364 better than one day. Imagine someone motivated enough to go "SHIIIIIIIT! 1/365 of 2009 has been lackluster so far. I was only moderately successful. I am going to make sure that the other 364/365 days are awesome!"

That's how you make the best use of your time son. A year shouldn't be chopped up in two parts just so you can let one part pass you by with little concern. "Oh, well one half is gone, too bad. I'll try to make the other half good." That's not a smart plan.

Just saying.

Shut the up, no one here isn't calm.

I'm just trying to make it extremely clear how motivation works in your mind and how to improve it. I've noticed that many people have the capacity for extreme motivation if things reach a certain point (in time, in conditions, in money, or whatever). If they could rewire their mind to make that motivation kick in at a far earlier point in time, they'd be super ing successful.

It's like lazy people (not calling you lazy Tbill) need their whole world to come crashing down in order to unleash the super motivated and efficient person within them. Weird. The laziest friend you know has extreme capability when the deadline is breathing down his or her neck, but other than that, they're good for nothing.

Pretty average year, really. The only difference I can think of to last year is that I have a little less spare time.

So c0r, we're just about halfway through the 2009 year....how are things going? better than last year? worse? pretty much what you expected? any surprises? disappointments?

Work has been pretty good; but social life has been pretty bad. but i've got a feeling that the 2nd half of the year should prove to be better than the 1st.

surprises? both my brother and my father are getting remarried. and both of them are still not yet divorced to their respective wives.

been able to go storm chasing kinda often, so that's been fun.

discuss!

I know, I was just trying to add some more motivation in this thread. Not flaming or anything. Let's just drop that whole side discussion, it's distracting

2009 has been bittersweet so far and I expect the rest of it to be amazing starting from around the middle of June or so.

So far so good. But if I step on another snake this year, I'm revising my post. :whip:
