i think it all comes down to comparing notes with tracks you hear on the net or tracks made by other producers on diffrent daws.
witch leads to the op,wondering why fl sucks. |

Its not me, I tell you when I make an alt, such as now.
If I had a problem with FL id go to the fl forums, but meh. Anyways, i think the op is full of it. Ableton is the program that had a bad sound engine, there have been threads about it already, search around. [threads in the past 3 months] |

I will flame the OP only cause he deserves it.
You are an idiot.
You do not have magical ears, you are not special, FLs sound engine is right on par with every other DAW out there imo |

Or use it properly, rather than squashing the crap out of the master.
I've had no low end issues with FL8, with older versions such as 3, 4 and 5 I wasn't using professional monitors and was a total beginner so can't really comment.
If you eq, mix and master properly it sounds ok to me. |

For live mixing, it's features are good. But when it comes to producing and then mixing in it, it's horrible.
I played around with several workstations and loaded up the same vsts, same settings and same notes...basically same music.
After exporting with the same settings, i noticed some big differences.
Cubase & Samplitude are on par, although I like the clarity a little more in Samplitude.
I don't find anything wrong with Reason's mixdown, you just need to learn to eq and use the mastering suite included. But you can getter better mixdown by rewiring and then applying better effects.
As for Ableton, the low frequencies seem to get washed out in a way. There's no punchiness to the sound unless you really go about adding effects after effects. But why go through extra trouble when you can get good results with less effort in a differnt DAW.
And when you rewire to mixdown, Ableton won't let you use virtual instruments. You have to bounce each track to audio, which is a pain in the ass.
Many people I know have said the same thing. They complained Ableton has a certain washed out sound to it. Just like people complain Reason has a muddiness to it.
I used to use FL studio, when starting out few years ago. It has some really good features that I miss.
Few things that made me switch is because, i have a quad-core processor and 4 GB ram. FL doesn't have multicore support I heard (not sure). And I just like the interface of Acid Pro 7 & Samplitude 10 way better. The midi editor in both are same as FL's in a way (fast workflow). But I enjoyed FL while I used it. I have no complaints really. It's a good learning tool. |

This isn't the first time I've heard this, but I can't hear it.
Every time someone posts something about this they never post an kind of comparison setting, except for the time TArekith over at abletonliveforms.com did a test. I couldn't hear a difference but according to the analyzers there was a small difference.
A couple of things that improve the quality in Live:
Turning Samplers interpolation on "high" when you pitch shift samples
Turning on the HQ button on audio samples
Enabling HQ mode on some of the effects by right clicking
There's a drop down box for quality in Live's native reverb plug-in
If you have some comparison files, post 'em. |

Well i notice this in FL Studio. And i know there is alot of ppl who agree me, they just dont want to say it.. cause why? Everyone start to flame you. Anyway this is first time i hear this about live.. i though fruity sounds bad!
i agree fruitys tools. Pianoroll is superb. I rly miss it. New fruity 9 will support 4 core, it is in alrdy in beta 8.5.
I went and i bought Podium license. It cost only 39€. And it's have huge potenttial. 64 bit mixing engine. It just sound superb. This little program have it own weakness.. No easy sidechain, some drag and drop features are useless. Zooming and etc.. needs rly get used to it.
Its very very stable DAW, i think its most stable DAW ever. I have zero crash so far. Very talend programer. Take a look!
