Going to Hawaii in late August... suggestions?

planning on doing some nude sun bathing. need to make sure i get brown in all the right places (and i don't mean stains).
haven't been there in almost 18 years. what else is there to do? |

Big Island is cool. Just be prepared for vog. I went last summer and it was pretty bad. I think it's gotten better recently though. *DO* visit the volcano. Kilauea is the most active volcano on the planet. You'll be amazed by the sites there. Other than that, I mostly stayed on the west side of the island (Kona). There are some awesome beaches there. My favorite is probably Hapuna. I might be going back there in a few weeks myself. Can't get enough of it!
Oh and check out South Point too. It's a wicked experience. If you're strong enough, take the looooong hike down to the green sand beach. Simply an amazing experience. |

think of it as volcanic fog. it can really mess up a nice sunny day. it was the worst in years last year, but i think it has gotten better. there are websites dedicated to daily vog reports, so you can check around. |
