I would always stop for people in distress if they motion.
I remember this one time I opted to walk home from a weekend party ---- (like 400 or so KM's) anyway... after probably about 10 or so if that, a journalist returning from the event picked me up. |
Are you that driver Will was talking about? |

i read a short story once about a hitch hiker; and it turns out that the hiker wasn't the one who was evil, but rather the driver.

Last week, this late 20s woman looked in distress, and tried to get in to the car ahead of me waiting at the light, she didn't get in, then came around my side, opened the passenger door and got in before I could lock the doors. She said to keep driving. She looked in bad shape, complained of her ankle broken, I offered to take her to the hospital, and she started acting weird. She was messed up, and spoke ghetto. She started saying she got beaten up, and started asking for money, and my instict was right... she turned out to be a crackhead hooker. I dropped her off a couple of minutes later where she claimed she lived, and I gtfo.
About 10 yrs ago, I was driving back from Montreal, it was raining, and passed by 4 teenage girls hitchhiking under an overpass that kept them dry. It was hard to see them there as it was raining, so I took the next exit, did a Uey, and back again, and they were still there, so I picked them up. The oldest, who was about 21 opened the passenger door first, and said to the others "he's cool", and they all came in. They were from Prescott, Ontario (read up on the prescott scandal on the intarweb), and were on their way to Gananoque. One of the girls in the back said she had sex with a guy for $50, said it was fun, and the guy was a sucker. So I was driving for about 100 miles with horny teens in the back. There were a lot of stories I heard of their sexual exploits. I couldn't believe it. I actually took them to the campground they wanted to go to, and left it at that. You'd have to know about the Prescott incest and abuse scandal that was a whole community-wide thing to understand why I left it at that. |

i was a bit concerned with my safety; as it was 230AM and it was in the middle of nowhere oklahoma and two random dudes. but i mean i did take precautions; and considering they were in the bed of the truck; and not in the cab with me, felt a bit safer. |
Please learn to properly use the semicolon. :( |

In relative terms she was pretty nice - whether it was for more info for her story, or pure compasion or otherwise..
I am thankful to this day - you must realize
there are NON dangerous people - relatively speaking who can benefit form being picked up. The thumb is something that doesn't happen too often in these parts anymore... though people can carpool organized like on sites like kijiji and pick up a ride for a few dollars... actually just being a vagrant and walking and hitchhiking on a tour is something that you don't find too often anymore. People who do tend to be pretty interesting people. |
Or incredibly weird and spooky, in which case i would rather not risk it.
Did pick up a couple of people once on my way to a rave though. I argued that anybody with huge platform shoes, pink hair and practically no clothes on cannot possibly be a terrible person and i was right. |

i guess technically they weren't hikers; i think....i mean, they weren't sitting on the side of the road with a sign saying, "anywhere" or whatever. just some guys who ran out of gas (apparently).
why the one wasn't wearing any shoes, i'll never know though. :wtf: |
Or why they wanted dropped off at the emergency room?
Was the vehicle wrecked? |
