I just recently bought a 15' macbook pro and im concerned that it may be a little too big for the club enviornment. I plan to run either serato or tracktor scratch. What are your guys thoughts?

these are the dimensions..
Height:
0.95 inch (2.41 cm)
Width:
14.35 inches (36.4 cm)
Depth:
9.82 inches (24.9 cm)
Weight:
5.5 pounds (2.49 kg)

depends- it is a bit big

the new macbook pro 13 inch is really the best bet for the club

that little thing is too nice! (BUT NO FIREWIRE WHICH SUCKS)

no it has firewire btw... The only disadvantages i can think of are 1. the screen being too big and being too distracting to the crowd 2. the laptop taking up too much room / not being able to fit on some stands. Am i missing anything?

I'm a fan of small laptops for portability.

SD card = Secure Digital. It's a type of flash memory card commonly used in point-and-shoot cameras and other devices requiring storage.

I would take the 13.3" MBP over the 15" one.

You shouldn't regret your purchase by any means. It might take up more space, but it will get the job done.

Yes the NEW (like 2 week) old 13" Macbook Pros have firewire, the previous ones did NOT. So be mindful of which you get if you need firewire.

I have a 15" and find it perfect, and yes I've used it in clubs.

If you are running Traktor I recommend the 15", the screen real estate is a big deal. I used to have an original 13" white Macbook, and found it cramped at times. I also had a 17" Macbook Pro, and that was too damn big. So like goldilocks, the 15" was 'just right'.

Serato can run on smaller displays a little better, since there's not much to Serato (no effects, mixer elements, etc.).

I've had no problems with my 15 in. I much prefer the added real estate over a 13 in.

+1

There's no way i'd get a 13" laptop.. I just do not need a footprint that small or the portability. 15" is perfect.

1. Sasha used to have a 17" Apple monitor for his gigs, asides from his Macbook. Only a moron would be disctracted by a monitor facing away from him.

2. Laptop stands are adjustable. And even if it didn't fit in one, you can always put it anywhere else.

3.

The guy has a laptop, 3 CDJs, a mixer, etc and 2 big ass Apple monitors and there's plenty of room on that table.

I love my 15" MBP. I play out every week and never had an issue of space. I think by now most clubs are set up to accomodate a laptop. Two years ago that wasn't the case.

LOL, that's because it's f'ing SASHA.

He gets whatever is on his rider.

If you are playing at local places, the booths are teeny tiny in most cases. They were built to house a couple 1200's and a mixer, and now people cram in CDJ's, laptops, DVS gear, etc.

But 15" is totally fine.
