I've never been out for pride but would reallllly like to come out for some festivities. I'm seeing a lot of talk for this south stage. Is there going to be a pre meet? Is anybody going to the actual parade?

I find it more offensive than pointless. First, they move the best parts of pride out from the street and into a beer garden - now they are selling out by selling the ability for a line bypass? Please - pride is just getting more corporate / regulated each year and quickly losing the feeling of "freedom" and celebration that it used to have.

As for "pointless" (my distaste of it aside) - not really. If your the kind of person who /loves/ pride, goes to all the parties, and wants to jump between multiple beer gardens/etc and not deal with the lines - this would be useful.

Show up at the south stage a bit later in the day and dont want to wait 1+hrs in line to get in? score - line by pass. Oh, your friends are over at another stage, want to go meet them and not wait inline? bonus - linebypass. Want to head back to the south stage and avoid the line that is now 2h long? score - by pass!

(actual times waiting in line may or may not be exaggerated :P)

I can see the "point" of the pass for someone who buys it - I just find it rather gross, and complelty opposite to the spirit of Pride (in combination with everything becoming more regulated and herded into parking lots)

OK, I got the deets on the 80s bands.

There's an 80s band combined tour called Regeneration Tour (http://regenerationtour.com), that will feature more artists like Human League. Men without Hats recently pulled out :(

They will be performing on Sunday at the Wellesley Stage.
4:45pm Cutting Crew
5:20pm Wang Chung
6-8 pm ABC

I didn't find Heaven17 on the schedule so I did some digging;

Direct from the Regeneration tour website.

The latest addition to the tour schedule is a huge free outdoor show in Toronto on June 28th as part of the Toronto Pride Week 2009. ABC starring Martin Fry, Wang Chung, Heaven 17 and Cutting Crew will perform from 4pm-7pm on the Wellesley Stage, located at Wellesley Street and Maitland Terrace.

This might be one of the only shows that Heaven 17 will be attending. Seems they are pulling out of the tour.

"due to “financial considerations” related to “unanticipated costs” and an “unfavorable exchange” rate that has tipped out of their favor over the past 5 months since they agreed to do the tour. On the shows where Berlin are appearing the shows will remain as a 4 band show. On the shows where Berlin are not appearing we are working to replace H17 with another act. Stay tuned!"

So it seems they were supposed to be there, but maybe pulled out prematurely (NPI)?

So who's coming on Sunday?
