what is this new compressor system about?

was chatting with a friend and he told me to check out a track so he sent it over but when i got it it had this extension .flac; At first i renamed to mp3 but the size was way too big for an 5 min track so then i renamed to wav and still nothing.

where do i play this?

so is it 48000hz ~1911kbps 24 bit? like wav?
Chimney
It's a compression of .wav and can be anywhere...1100, 900, 850, 450...you get the point.

do you forsee it being able to be incorporated by progs like abelton, traktor etc? I have to say I'm impressed by the stuff I have in it, the depth of it is great.

Traktor can play flac and analyze flac.

i mean with the recent lost of my HD i've started to build my library again, but this time i'll try to have most of it in wav.

Now, flac seems like a good deal on both quality and space. Been comparing tracks in wav and flac files and concluded they do have the same quality although wav have higher frequency but is not that big of a difference.
