Hi everybody
I just started listening to Paul Van Dyke, and am really liking his stuff (out there and back)
I was on Amazon today checking out Vorsprung Dyk Technik: Paul Van Dyke Remixes 92-98.
I'm quite new to the whole remixes thing as well as trance and other electronic music (you have to start somewhere).
I have noticed that they Vs when its a remix. IS this a collaboration?
1. Flaming June - BT (PVD vs. BT remix)
For the song above, would this be a BT tune but remixed by PVD? Though it has BT remix in the brackets?
2. Run To You - Dina Carroll (BT vs. PVD remix)
This one is would be a Dina Carrol tune, and the remix is by BT and PVD, whats this one
3. Remember - BT (Recollected remix)
A tune by BT though remixed by Recollected? Though I thought this was an album of PVD remixes?
I imagine that this is pretty rudimentary stuff, if anybody could explain it, I'd be eternally grateful.
Thanks |

| It usually just means it was either a collab or a mashup of two songs. |

Vs. is short for versus which indeed in artists' case means they have collaborated on the track or remix but sometimes also whole songs can be vs. which means they or some elements of them have been mashed up together on top of each other into one song.
1. There is no BT's own original mix of Flaming June. There's a "BT vs. PvD original mix" which he did together with PvD and also a "BT vs. PvD remix". The differences aren't huge but the 2 mixes surely are different. The one on Vorsprung Dyk Technik is the remix and for those who don't know, the one on BT's album ESCM is the original mix.
3. The "Recollected" in the mix title of BT's Remember is just a title of Paul van Dyk's remix, not a name of the remixer. The remixing producers often like to give some kind of titles to their remixes. The full track title here being "BT - Remember (Paul van Dyk's Recollected remix)". PvD also did another remix called "Paul van Dyk's Totally Recalled remix". |
