yet another headphone thread

Yes, another headphone thread. Deal with it. But this one is different from others, I don't want to know what headphones I should buy for producing or DJing (would be in a different forum if I wanted that). I want to know which headphones would be great for casual use yet still have great sound quality. I love my MDR-7506's, but they just aren't the kind of headphones that I like to wear for casual listening of music and then maybe drop onto my neck when I'm not listening. They're just kind of clunky and big. Definitely lightweight but clumsy.
I like to think I've evolved beyond the stereotypical highschooler listening to 96kbps mp3's from limewire through the standard pair of iPod headphones. Or the punk rock kid blasting Black Flag through a pair of skullcandy headphones. (I actually know a girl who has a pair of black skull's, she probably thinks they're good lol)
I think I wouldn't spend more than $150. Also they should be closed since I would be using them in noisy places. I just want quality headphones that aren't cumbersome and don't look stupid. I must admit, the MDR's look kind of stupid sometimes since they kind of stick out a bit.
Yea, like that. luckily I bent the headband a bit so they fit better and don't stick out as much. |

Koss UR 45, these are the cheapest and best headphones for listening to music with mp3 players and such, of the ones i have tried.
Great bass in them too, and they are very light and comfortable to wear.
And they cost nothing, ive had around 5 of these so far and i will continue to buy new once they break. |

| For casual use, i'd get something in ear, so you can actually walk around with it outside of home. |

the in-ear headphones with the rubber surrounds have decent kick to them, for earbuds that is. |

Yea I did think about getting in ears but from experience I've kind of grown weary of them. They always have too much bass not enough high-end.
Those Koss headphones look good (headband looks really comfortable) but I don't like the fact that there are 2 wires coming out of each side. I like it better with just one coming out of left or right. I will continue searching on my own but if anyone has other suggestion please let me know. |

tried mixing on headphones, but speakers to me is way better.
to get the sound of that speakers, can you sort of "emulate" it (can't find the right word for it) by not putting it in your ears but by placing the phones around your neck? |

| No mention of Sennheiser headphones? I have HD515 and I'm quite satisfied with them. Though if I was buying now I'd go after the HD 380 or HD 280 Pro. |
