Hey folks,
Been trying to record sets in the club I work at but as you'd expect other DJs love to pump the gains and although this sounds ok through the main club system with no distortion for some reason the Zoom H2 I'm using just clips to hell. Ive tried turning down the recording levels on it to no avail and Im using the record output on the back of the DJM800.
Any ideas on this one, the other DJs dont heed the warning not to push the trims past 12 oclock.
Many thanks,

Yes, make sure you're recording on the H2 input as line, but the distortion is coming from the DJM being redlined at the gain stage, and unfortunately they sound like utter when clipped. Turning down the rec level on the will just make a quieter recording of the distorted signal.
They only way to stop it is to turn down the gain and do proper gain staging.
Oh and also, it doesn't sound "ok though the system". Y=trsut me, get them to do proper gain staging at the club, with a warning for Dj's not to redline it and it will sound so much better. |
