^^ Thank you Dan!!
It's seems these bailouts have been confused with socialism. And if I recall correctly (honestly I don't follow this stuff much anymore) it was the republican led government who was originally pushing to bail out the financial and auto sectors. |
bailouts arent socialist per se.
State owned nationalized businesses are.
The US is now in the auto industry, the banking industry and who knows whats next?
Socialized medicine... we all know how well that works here right?
Billions thrown at make work projects and massive deficits.
And now guess what? A tax hike for all! |

Id like to see the same pie chart for China.
Its not the quantity of things nationalized that makes socialism, it's what is nationalized.
For example a nationalized bank is far more influential and far reaching with its impact than a nationalized fast food chain.
Airlines same thing since they are extremely important to the infrastructure and there are so few of them.
And lets hope Obama's social medicine scheme goes the same way as Hillary Clinton's did in the 90s. |

I spoke with a client in Chicago the other day who had to spend 24k on healthcare in 2009. Canada's system may not be perfect but he certain wished he lived up here.
Anyways, no real need for debate here. I respect your opinion and will allow you back the the rhetoric we all enjoy. |

Im sure that he would have spent the same or more here depending on how much he makes. The difference here is that it is disguised as taxes and you get crappy service for it. ;)
50% of every tax dollar spent in canada is for health care. Think about that. |

I spent about $40K on income taxes last year, of which I think about $16K goes to health care - and I never visited a hospital OR a doctor. This excludes the additional $1500 or so I paid for insurance under my company's co-pay plan.
Actual health care costs in Canada are only about 15-20% less expensive than health insurance costs in the U.S. For that extra 20%, you have the privilege of not spending 6 months to 2 years on a waiting list. |

| For anyone truly interested in just how FACKED the US healthcare system is, and some alternatives that Obama has, check out this week's Economist - some really interesting commentary in there. |
