Smirnoff Experience Review

What a night.
Unbelievable set up, nice people, hot hot hot chicks, Anne Savage just rock.

I got there around 12 am went straight to brakes room, unbelievable acid and dark brakes, after that went to room 1 to see John Kellyand oh man this man just drop some unbeilievable trance tunes: Marco V - Simulated, Ferry Corsten - Punk, Rank 1 - Airwave (mix ?????) and many more. I was surprised hearing him spinning some trance stuff. At 3 am Anne Savage hit the wheels. And she just distroy me with her sick hard house just unbeilievable.

Overall it was the best experience of my life - smirnoof experience.

I was feeling European vibe there, the whole venue was looking like Trance energy with chat rooms, 4 rooms, chillout area, patio and many more.

Unbeilievable.

10/10

And a bit of an opposite view...
I didn't enjoy the party as much as I hoped I would..
However, it was very well organized, no line-ups anywhere, parking, complimentary drinks.. decor was alright, although that's the usual Liberty Grand set-up with an added DJ booth and a few intelligent lights. The rest was just way too sophisticated for a "rave"-type party.
I came in around 11:45 and it was almost empty, especially the rooms with DJ line-ups. The courtyard was always full, but it felt like a pre-dinner cocktail party in there. People were just standing around, not many into music & dancing...
The music, as I said before - I didn't expect much from it, and what I heard didn't move me, except for some half an hour of John Kelly's set, which was pretty energetic. The rest of the rooms were a brain-massage. Not for me.
Besides, I didn't know anyone there, none of my friends went.
However, the night turned out alright after the smirnoff cocktail party, which was a good chilling start.
And that is all the chance I am giving Smirnoff Experience.. I didn't like the last one either..
But, an experience is an experience, wouldn't know if I didn't try
:D

I really liked the last Smirnoff Experience, how did this one compare to the last one (except for those damn hour line ups to get from one room to another)?
Brunette thanx on your input on the matter!:D
Want to hear what other people thought of it too?

Too bad I did not make it, really wanted to see John Kelly put on another show!

Love reviewing/critisizing events... :p

The last one was better cause the venue was filled up, but not crowded; the vibe was party vibe and there were a lot of familiar faces + friends..
This time around, it was a different location, which is good cause Guv is an old story.. there was no line-up anywhere, not even the washrooms.. however, the place was not even half-filled, and it seemed like people weren't interested in the event in the first place (maybe it was the $40 cover). If they announced it would be a cocktail evening, I'd be ready.. but it just felt like a summer sunday afternoon.. and I was really pumped for "WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO Let's party!!!!!!!!" :D

It seemed as if we all got an invitation to some ultra-special, sophisticated event that we didn't belong to and no one could relax and just enjoy the music, as if our parents were watching us.

Music.. not my kind of thing, but I can adapt.. Well, I couldn't. It was too banging for that place, didn't fit.

Oh, the complimentary drink was a nice bonus.. I was able to get a few more afterwords.. though wasn't enough to make my night.

well wat can i say...first of all, the set up of the place was fantastic, well-organized, nice decors :) there was 4 rooms, which was totally great, because they tried to put every dj of the same gender in one. i really enjoyed room 4, the breaks room :D Krafty Nuts was spinning some abstract, funky breaks, 2 30 am finally Lee Coombs came on. i was waiting a really long time to see him, and he spun exactly wat i expected. nothing but straight up nu-skool breaks straight from UK :) i recognized some songs but cant recall right now, in the middle of his set he spun New Order - Crystal his own remix of it, everyone went nuts! :) i also checked John Kelly, he spun a nice set, but to my taste Dave Ralph spun the best set in that room. Anne Savage is hot, but she spun like this hard-house cheese or something, damn i cudn't stand it, i expected a lot better from her. Christian Smith was all about techno, Derrick May spun chicago-house and i forgot the rest hehe
This event certainly felt more of the European or something, but that was just coz of the set-up. the crowd was nice, but there was no vibe there at all. out of all these time ive been partying here in Toronto, i didn't witness vibe that made you actually stay there, and dance your ass off (expect Hybrid, Sandra Collins @ Kool Haus). people at Smirnoff were just standing on the outdoor patio, chatting, drinking which was great, coz they were spinning chill-out mainly the whole night, but in the other rooms, it was pretty dead  expect when Anne Savage was spinning there was a crowd, but ahhh well it was someking of crowd.
Toronto or other cities in canada SHOULD have events like these, because they provide a wide range of electronic musik :) plus it gets exposed to more people, but for the torontonian crowd i think it will take some time before we actually we start partying together :p
overall 9/10 :)

It was an OK night.

I have to say I missed out quite a bit of things around me, because I had someone preoccupying my mind the whole night......

but, I didn't miss John Kelly's set.....and for the second time he tears it up.....all I gotta say, I'd see him for the 3rd time, and 4th time, and a 5th time, .......he's just good! He's into it too which makes it so much better.....he was up there taking pictures of the crowd while behind the tables....

the venue was cool, it was more commercial I felt than the last one, as in the type of people that were there....

I ended up spending most of the night in the Courtyard because the girl I was with preferred the music there the most....too bad no one was moving except her though!!....no seemed to be dancing out there as someone already mentioned.....

all in all, it was alright......it was definitely an experience! :D
