| The Cardinal is closing, this will be the last weekend! so another venue where there is the occasional EDM event is going to be gone |

somehow I doubt many people on here (except UWM) understand the importance of The Cardinal in the grand scheme of midwest electronica. Look at rave flyers of the early 90's on the "props list" on the back bottom of almost every one. You'll see a shoutout to Nick Nice and The Cardinal.
I've heard rumours that the demise isn't as final as it might seem, rather a change in ownership, but even with a slight downtime it brings to an end of what is probably the longest continuously operating club in the country at around 35 years or so. |

It's actually older than it's been continuously operating. Here's a pic of the bar area from the 1930's:
It's largely the same, even with the original tile floor. The bar has been shortened, ending at the far end where the mirrors stop. Yeah, this place is old and historic. |

I'm still in Georgia, though I was in town last fall (and played at The Cardinal). I briefly had my old gig at Venus De Milo back, doing a solo weekly on Thursdays, but the new manager didn't like the fact that I played to the crowd, not to what she wanted me to play. I got fired... LOL
I'm still working on music, mostly doing remixing right now. |
