Man....what an inspiration. Thank god Richie is Canadian!!!!
|
Born in England.. came to Canada when he was 9 or 10.
and hasn't lived in canada in about 7 years.
He's been in Berlin for the last 5.
Hawtin on his move to Germany: "I’d always wanted to move to Europe,” he says. “I needed somewhere that was inspiring and where there were like-minded musicians and artists, somewhere you could still experiment with music and with life” |

From Wiki:
Richard (Richie) Hawtin (born June 4, 1970, Banbury, Oxfordshire, England) is a English-Canadian electronic musician and internationally-touring DJ who was an influential part of Detroit techno's second wave of artists in the early 1990s....
Hawtin was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire in England, but moved when he was aged 9 to LaSalle, Ontario, a suburb of Windsor, Ontario, and just across the river from Detroit, the birthplace of techno....He spent part of 2002 and 2003 living in New York City, and has since moved to Berlin, Germany |

Richie is now 39 years old. Moving to Canada @ 10 & then leaving for Europe in the past 7 years'ish = 22 years as a Canadian. Simple math man. More than half his life in our country = Canadian imo. I love the man.

Does he have his Canadian Citizenship? If so, he's Canadian....if not, he's not Canadian.....its really that simple. |

i see rich at least 6 or 7 times a year in Windsor. His hoe is still here, the m-nus Plus8 office is still on walker and so is the studio. The t-mobile documentary states he was raised in Windsor.
When we did the event in windsor his credits read (Windsor - Berlin - m-nus)
So yes he is Canadian |
