MP3 Ripping Programs

I'm sick of the ing awful Creative "Centrale" program, which crashes every single ing time I try ripping, even though it's been reinstalled and updated. The old Creative program was perfectly efficient for the most part, but they saw fit to replace it with this hideously buggy pile of wank.
The result is that I've got an ever-growing pile of CDs I can't put on my MP3 player. So can I get some MP3 ripper recommendations? Preferably something free, and preferably something that can connect to Gracenote or the like and download the CD information. |

What's wrong with putting old CD's on your computer?
I recommend dbpoweramp, it comes with a CD ripper tool. |

iTunes has a CD ripper, it's not for exclusive use with iPods. That's what I use to rip my CDs and transfer the mp3s to my iPod. |

| Quintessential Player... you can download it from CNET. Supports Gracenote and is a very good overall media player/ripper. Can rip to mp3, ogg, wav, wma, etc. |

| EAC converter. Set it up good with dependency on DVD / CD player and you'll get flawless rips. |

Absolutely! It might be a bit more complicated to set up than some others but like previous poster said, flawless rips so it's worth it. |

I've been ripping mp3s since 1997 and this is IMO by far the best combination to use to get high quality end results.
Just use EAC to rip your wavs and then I use Razorlame (with LAME) to easily make mp3 files. |
