What would it be?
If I was going to invest say 1000 dollars or more into physical hardware production and I wanted to make music along the lines of what Carl Craig does, which machine would I get the most bang for my buck out of? |

if you broaden your budget by 1500 bucks you could get a virus TI polar... i think that beast is worth the investment:eyes:
but for around 500 bones you can nab a Juno 106, vintage and badass. also look for the roland JP8000/rackmount JP8080

I'm going to assume you have a MIDI controller, otherwise that is obviously the most important thing for you to get. I recommend the Novation SL series (37 key one is perfect) and you can get them at an insane price at www.novamusik.com
So if you have a MIDI controller, I would try to hunt down a racked Nord Lead 3 if you have patience. That would be your best bang for the buck. I believe I saw one going for $1,300 the other day (used of course) in great condition. I wanted to buy it, but bought a Nissan Murano instead.
I would take a very long look at getting racked gear if you have a nice controller. It will save you quite a bit of money as well as space, and while I don't have a 5 foot tall rack mount loaded with gear, I can imagine that using it is more fun. It looks more fun at least. As long as you have a very good controller and can get everything set up and running properly.
My next purchase, which will be a while, will be an older analog mixer and a rack mount and then I will start adding racked synths to it (the ones we discussed above)
For "ONE" piece of hardware, I would get the NL3 |
