Well after seeing Adam in 07 at Vanguard and seeing him last Sat... there is definitly a huge difference.

First off the club was pretty empty which always makes for a bad night for me, I hate that. The Opening Dj I thought sucked, he played really industrial electro sort of dark beats. Then When Adam finally went on at around 12:20ish He started off good, and people were dancing, but then it would die down with a song or two you wouldn't know how to dance to.... then he would bring it back up again.

I think I liked his version of the Beastie Boys "Savotage" the best, it was a really good remix. Props for that.

The screens kept flashing all these numbers, I would describe it as the intro to 24 with Keifer Sutherland. It was really distracting. Then there was this new type of washer I've never scene before ... These guys and girls were holding on to the iron bars at the front below the Dj stage and swinging their bodies in a rotating motion around and around. I'll call it the "washer-spin cycle" LAME!!!

Then again, I mainly go to deep...(which you should on sunday for Lil Louie Vega). The crowd is waaaaaay better and deep is probably one of the best house music nights I've ever been to.

Agreed.

I love Deep, but since i am down here in SD i dont get to go as much as i want to.

I think i went 2-3 times last year, i am at 0 this year :(

Yeah, a 3 hour drive can kill the motivation :( but sometimes deep is worth it. About two months ago we went to deep without expecting much, happened to be following on from Compression and Raul campos was playing - masterclass in how to read crowd and it turned in to one of the better nights I've had in 10 years!

You gotta make it up Nero!

Duchess, it seems this weekend was bit weak allover. A friend went to Avalon and said it wasn't busy at all there either and the music, although OK was definitely nothing to write home about - mainly just electro and even cheesey at points.

What's with DJ playing electro?....that boat left a couple of years ago!

According to my lil brother, who has just come into the scene beginning to Dj and produce his own music ha ha(its in our blood evidently)...

the "New" thing is Drum and Base... and so the transition has been electro, electro house, drum and base.

Its no longer the 'Happy Melodic' or 'Fun Disco-ey House' beats that I loved so much over the past 10yrs (whoa!)

Now if you've noticed there are events that have sprung up called "HARD" Last year was "Hard Haunted Mansion" and it sold about as many if not more tickets than MM08... There is a HARD event coming up this summer around the time of Noctournal I think?

According to the tweens and pre-adults the UpandComing Djs are Justice, deadmous3, and a few other people I didn't know anything about till my bro started showing me.

Times they are a changing

Need to go back to school girl! ...or at least hit better clubs! There's so many good one in LA at the moment (compression, deep, audit, circus, king etc, etc).

Deadmau5 (used to be a TA on here) is kind of the poster boy of 2007/8 (not to say he won't do well in 2009) and the same can be said for Justice - they were to 2007/8 what daft punk were to 97.

those events are also packed with kids (literally), that's why its in the same catchment as MM.

Drum and Bass has come and gone so many times I'm just bored now. Kids and DJ's starting out get in to it but it never goes in to decent clubs and fizzles out before it gets anywhere. Also, D&B clubs are always slightly more...er....how can I say it?....Ghetto.

The times aint changing so much, more repeating..... :D

Ummmm isn't that what I typed?

"Tweens and Pre-Adults" that was my way of saying young people.... :conf

And sorry but I'm sticking to my guns with not remembering the tweens of my decade(76-81) liking D&B - I remember them liking trance and going to Masterdom, Lyrics, and a few other underground spots in LA to hear trance... even a few events in SF in warehouses, but that is just what "I" remember - I'm not trying to speak for everyone. Also don't remember hearing too much about D&B or "massive" events hosting it - so to "me" it seemed like a new concept

What is that school Rann, I need to sign up for emtd101(Electronic Music Throughout the Decades.101) I feel so musically incompetent now

Yeah, I think the summer doldrums are upon us here in LA...European DJ's are pretty content staying local and spinning in the EU (Ibiza, anyone, can you blame them?)

Once the freezing cold, rain and snow kick in, I'm sure they'll be back, starting right around SF LovEvolution.

But, somebody please prove me wrong so that I can go out more often in the summer here! :)

Great now I'm on a rant -

What's w/ all the hate on kids anyway, we were kids once....

Where is the Love ha ha ha

I used to date this guy who would say "Trance is for kids, House is for grown ups" This thread totally made me remember him
