Ableton Question

So I had to reformat the other night and was reinstalling my vsts yesterday and today. One caused live to crash during authorization and my OS said it was closing the vst. So I restarted live and couldn't find the vst. Uninstalled the vst, reinstalled, restarted the computer, and it's still not showing up.

I tried installing it somewhere else, no luck. The .dll file is still in the right folder, so ableton is just not reading it. Is this common? Whats the best way to get it back working?

Thanks guys
SGL
Try installing in the 'vstplugins' folder for Ableton, rather than copying and pasting the .dll library file. If that doesn't work, then the file could either be corrupt or the Ableton program itself.

There should be no reason why your vst plugins shouldn't show up in the host, unless you are using cracked version where you didn't enter the data (challenge/response) right in order to crack the file.

or in the preference in ableton changing the vst folder to something else and then change it back so ableton re-scans the folder again.

I'm using windows 7. That's what caused the issue i'm sure, just trying to figure out how to best remedy it.

Ableton gave me a message saying it was handling it essentially but I didn't give it any thought because I figured at worst I'd have to just reinstall the vst.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Ableton and reimported the vsts, still not showing. Since ableton reported to me it wasn't allowing this vst to be used because it caused the crash where do I go to fix that? Is there a file I need to delete/replace?

Help would be greatly appreciated I really don't want to have to reinstall the os AGAIN!

Try reformatting your drive or clearing the windows registry...and then re-install everything. That's the best suggestion I can give.

I know that will work that's just a lot of added trouble and kissing two days goodbye again. Hopefully my email to ableton will be able to figure it out.

If anyone has had this happen before though for sure let me know what you did to fix it!
