One of the amazing things about GU 013: Ibiza is it's timelessness. It's constantly being rediscovered by people new (and old) to the genre of electronic dance music, and seems not only to stand the test of time but ripen with age.
As a fan of progressive trance, it is easily among my all-time favorite CD mixes. Sasha ia a master. Enjoy your newfound treasure. |

I keep telling people about this album and saying how wonderful it is...
I bought this album a few months back, and it reigns as my top purchase...standing above Politics of Dancing and even the mighty acclaimed(yet overrated) S&D Northern Exposure: Expeditions.
Disc 1's mixing is probably the definition of what perfect mixing is....seamless cuts and transitions weave the tracks together to form an aural fantasy. The mix concentrates on maintaining an airy, steady atmosphere, yet manages to inject it with enough energy to keep it alive and bright.
Disc 2 is awesome. A little more edgy and fast paced...almost too much. The mix leaves you breathless by the time Heaven Scent hits, almost an excess of pure trance and mixing euphoria, wondering how and when you got hit so hard with masterful mixing. Yet the mix is steady and constant like the the first disc...no rushes, complete balance and comfort in listening. A little more heavy toned and harder texture is apparent in disc 2.
Only Sasha is capable of this. This album represent trance at it's finest IMO.
As you can see, I love this album. I'm glad someone chose to start a thread about it. |

Absolutely fantastic album from Sasha. It was re-released on vinyl this year by the way to celebrate its success as the highest selling GU compilation so far.
We need more threads about this type of music. Even though this is a predominately trance forum, it would be a good break from seeing all those tiesto/ferry/armin/pvd threads page after page, not that I'm trying to diss them producers though. |
