Aka Stu Tyson...International dj/producer, label owner, mix engineer and occasional radio host, Bass Kleph has a finger in every music pie in town, including having one of the hottest, most in demand, individual sounds of now.
Itʼs an edgy take, on jackin' tech/electro house that everyone can connect with. Itʼs somewhere between the underground and the pop, the melodic and the raw, but it always features a cool, sexy, “less is more” approach. Itʼs that… well itʼs that Bass Kleph sound.
Heʼs had big global hits with songs like $pend My Money, Helium, Coup dʼEtat, Bump Uglies and his numerous Remixes including 12 Inch Therapy (Robb G), Feelin' Kinda Strange (Drumattic Twins), Who Are The Warriors (Stanton Warriors) and Get The Fu*k Up (Stupid Fresh). Two of which feature professional music videos playing worldwide. The biggest of which is club anthem $pend My Money released this year. His music has been licenced to CD compilations such as Ibiza Annual and many other Ministry Of Sound, Sony, and EMI CDs all over the world. Kleph music has been licenced to a 3 year TVC for Toyota, and extensively used throughout InTheMix TV Australia.
When it comes to remixing, the story reads the same. He's won international awards for 'Best Remix', and had music videos shot for others in New York. His remixes regularly hit the Top 10 on the online stores such as DJ Download and Beatport, and often has hit the number one spots. One of these was nominated for an ARIA Award and another was quoted as “The Tune of Miami WMC”.
Whether writing bombs in the studio or tearing apart the decks on tour, Bass Kleph doesnʼt just set the bar, he breaks it in two. His DJ sets are a celebration of all his hard work in the studio and behind the scenes. He works the crowd and the stage with everything he's got. His track selection is impeccable and being one of the few DJs that mix in key, his mixes are
taken to another level. With plenty of unreleased and demo material at hand, Bass Kleph is regularly dropping the freshest, taste-maker tunes before anyone out there. Yet somehow, he still always manages to maintain an accessible feeling and sound. Along with his work in the studio, It's this attention to detail, combined with pure performance, that spawned the demand for Bass Kleph globally. Bass Kleph has played in over thirteen countries and DJʼd at Fabric (London), Tunning Halls (Moscow), Baby Face (China) and The Good Vibrations Festival (Aus) to name a few.
Bass Kleph is also the man behind the hot record label Vacation Records. Vacation first started releasing music in February 2007 and have fast become one of the world's favourite dance & underground labels. The Vacation sound is tech, electro, prog & house. Their tracks have benn featured on ARIA nominated albums, topped charts all over the world, and been laden with praise from John Aquaviva, Crookers, Rene Amesz, Kissy Sell Out, DJ Dan, Micky Slim, Way Out West, Ian Pooley, Crystal Method, Jason Nevins and many more. Their catalogue is in equally high demand with other record labels too. Vacation have licenced their music to a long list of high profile compilations including many to Ministry Of Sound, Sony, EMI and others all over the globe. Some of the artists theyʼve released include Wolfgang Gartner, Micky Slim, Hook N Sling, Stupid Fresh, Twocker, Mowgli, Tommy Trash, fRew, Dopamine and of course Bass Kleph. This year, they also released their first in a series of mix albums entitled “Wish You Were Here”. Itʼs a selection of their biggest tracks and some unreleased ones too, all mixed to perfection.
2008 was a massive year for Kleph. He toured the world several times, starred in music videos, released a massive amount of music and recorded a mix album too. With an artist album now in the works for 2009 and his calender booked out 4 months in advance, it looks like thereʼs no sign of things slowing down either.
