Reason + M Audio Radium 49 = pain!

I've been having this problem for days now, and tried everything I could think of. So I've got this M-Audio Radium 49 for 2 years now and everything was working fine until a few days ago when suddenly it started happening. When I open Reason I can play a few keys during the first few seconds after loading. and then it suddenly stops, like there's no keyboard - also, when I open the preferences window in reason and "reset" the settings (leave them exactly as they were, just press OK) for the Radium, it starts working again, but only for a few seconds.

I've tried reinstalling Reason, the drivers for Radium, tried using every USB port on my pc, and today I've even reinstalled Windows (I thought that must be it), but nothing changed at all. The Radium is set to Preset 1 as required.

I'm using:

Reason 4
Win XP SP3
My system is - AMD X2 5000+, MSI K9N Neo, 2GB Kingston RAM ... (if that's got anything to do with it).

Can anyone please help?

+ EDIT: The keyboard isn't busted as it works flawlessly on my friends computer.

Maybe your USB port if somehow ed? Try getting a new USB-PCI card, theyr not expensive.

i had the same exact problem with my mac when i upgraded to an intel. At the time there was no firmware made for intel macs by m-audio so i wound up selling the 49 and getting a Korg.

it sounds like there is a conflict with your usb ports and windows.

have you tried getting all the latest windows updates like service pack 3. that might remedy the problem.

do you have any usb external drives or anything else. disconnect them so it forces a no irq for them.

yeah, got the SP3 already ... the thing is everything was working fine on the same setup just a little while ago (had sp3 for a while now)... the only thing I did in the meantime, that could possibly affect the "setup" is that I installed a USB 3G internet card. but that should not count as I've formated the whole partition... :conf:

the only thing I have is an usb keyboard, but I tried disconnecting it and hasn't helped a bit... once again, everything worked fine with that same keyboard plugged in...

smells like an USB issue, but f*ck me if I know what else I could do to solve it ...
