How is this lead made? Which kind of synthesis is this? Is this square or saw based? I don't know where to start to make a sound like that.

Would be nice if somebody could explain how to make such a sound in Fruity. An audio demo of the result would also be nice. Thanks!

the main lead is squerish, nintendo style.

that doesn't help much.. anybody else can help more.. thanks!

look up magical8bitplug. that's it just use a square wave and throw on some effects.
noicuc
Pretty sure its a supersquare..

as for what kind of synthesis , its most probaly subtractive , and ANALOG.
floyd741
I agree with noicuc, but here's a half-ass attempt using magical8bitplug. It's just got overdrive, reverb, and a thing called soundgoodizer. [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
It's not absolutely terrible I guess. I kind of did 4 different sounds, it's pretty obvious if you hear the sample. Also I didn't feel like figuring out the bass for the second part. I just did the same thing at a lower octave.

does this use hard sync? Doesn't hard sync make these kind of.. hard sounds or does hard sync has nothing to do with this?

i don't know what hard sync is so no I didn't use it. I actually made a better one, I played around with the adsr to make it sound more like the song. It's the same sound and effects as before but with a tweaked adsr. Definitely sounds closer to the song: [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

Thanks for the upload.. doesn't sound bad..

now, I don't use magical8bitplug, so could you please explain step by step how you made it so it can be done with any synth, like did you start with a square and so on (and what's a "supersquare".. i know a supersaw but supersquare??

also, did you layer 4 sounds for that sound, cause you say you made 4 sounds or something?

thanks!

ps: if anybody else has advice to make this sound even better, please let us know..

a supersquare is pretty much the same thing as supersaw...a bunch of square oscillators detuned with each other...

you can even make a supersine...if you care for that kinda sound...

Well I don't know about other synths but I guess if the synth your using has a plain square wave then go for it. Still I recommend magical8bitplug since it's free and it's cool for squares and saws. you can get a cool retro sound. I think it can make noise too, I'm not sure. And no I didn't layer 4 squares, it was just one but I made it sound 4 different ways with soundgoodizer. I think you have to buy FL 8 to get it. Of course if you're a thieving, morally backwards, scum-of-the-planet pirate (like me) you can get it free of charge.

"soundgoodizer"

I think ill have to get my 7 year old fruity + lifetime update thing fixed again just to have something on my system called a "soundgoodizer", that is full of win.
