I had to make a new thread because Lira posted so many ing videos that it lags my computer out to the point of not being able to post in that thread. Thanks, Lira. 
Anyhow, I realize Jamie's probably not being literal when she says she turns bipolar during her period...but one cannot just turn bipolar. You either are or you aren't. And bipolar isn't just being "moody". It's a disorder characterized by periods of major depressive episodes combined with the occurrence of manic or hypomanic episodes. And when people are manic...they're more than just hyper or euphoric. They tend to lose their inhibitions and do things with negative consequences (promiscuity is a big one..or gambling, like that) and dress inappropriately, and it really affects their occupational and social functioning. They also tend to sleep very little or not at all when in a manic episode.
Typical dead give away symptoms are pressured speech (talking REALLY fast/loud/anxiously) and flight of ideas (repeated and rapid changes in the topic of conversation). Oh and delusions...most commonly delusions of grandeur/inflated sense of self esteem or importance.
I've worked with bipolar people while they were having manic episodes...and they all had to be put in the lock down unit, lol. One chick's delusions were so bad that she thought all the men in the town wer fighting over who was the father of her baby, lol. You should have seen what she was ing wearing. |

| yea but there are also many different levels of bipolar disorder. a girl i used to work with had it and was open about it and she told me a lot about it. most people hear the term and automatically think, "crazy person" but really, a lot of people have it and don't realize it. they just have a more mild case of it. |

| In summary, it doesn't sound like a good thing at all... fortunately I don't know anyone having such a disorder but if i did, id feel very bad for them and would try to give them my full support. Life is not always fair. |

I get offended when people talk about their mental illness/disorder on boards like this, it seems extremely inappropriate. Whining is even worse. I have nothing against someone who just mentions it in passing, but I can't stand whiners or people 'looking for support' when there are numerous places filled with caring, understanding people who understand and have the same problems. It makes them seem like super trolls when they come here.
Even I wouldn't do that because this is just not the appropriate setting, sorry if you feel differently |

| and jenny i wasn't being literal fyi. but i do go from one extreme to the next during the week before i get my actual period. i'm talking like one minute i'm fine and then the littlest thing will send me into a rage or i'll want to cry and go to sleep lol and it's extreme. it affects my life, job and everything (PMS). thank god it's just for a few days. i don't know if i could handle being that crazy all the time. :wtf: |

There are 3 major groups:
Bipolar I - periods of major depressive, manic, or mixed episodes
Bipolar II - periods of major depression and hypomania
Bipolar III (cyclothymic disorder)- periods of hypomanic eisodes and depressive episodes that do not meet full criteria for a mjor depressive episode |

| Well, if he was being a serious douche/having a really bad manic episode, I would give him 3-5 ccs of flupenthixol or haldoperidol, right in the ass...because he'd probably need to be restrained. :D |
