To start off, couldn't believe it when I saw this happen in front of my eyes. loz :)

10min of deadmau5

Ill put it this way I guess. I went to Lovefest 08, Monster Massive 08, Amore 09 in Italy, Love 09, Pop 09, Ultra Miami 09, EDC 09, and probably a few other massives as well as countless electronic events/clubs within this past year. I plus or minus know what a good crowd reaction is and what it looks like and feels like when someone is "rockin it". So I stand by what I said before. You may not like when someone plays smells like teen spirit, but it may come as a surprise that others do. Not only did ATB play it last year which resulted in the crowd essentially screaming the lyrics, but then Armin, in a faux pas, played it once again that very same night. I don't think the song should be played twice, but if you're really going to be that dense about the selection then that pretty much explains why the lineup and music selection came out the way it did. What do you suggest was better...? Deadmau5 playing the Zelda theme song last night? Yea.....

Well thanks for posting the video, guess that sums it up... here is a direct comparo to last year:
DaveT
I have zero to do with the lineup or any say in it.
Anyhow, it seems like it's just a differnce in tasts largely.
And yeah, I thought the Zelda thing was a bit cheesy too (and I worked in videogame media industry from 1996 - Dec 2008...and might even stay/get back in it). But that's just me. I've already said I'm not a big fan of his sets these days (though I have heard him play very well in the past and am not afraid to say I do like smoe o his productios), just not the style I'm really into right now. Not hating on him at all. A lot of people obviously love the guy. Just the style isn't me...right now.
And the whole SLTS to get crowds pumped up is played out, that's my issue. It pops up every two years or so like clockwork it seems. So yeah. First couple times it popped up back in the day yeah it was awesome. But it's just gotten old to me personally (that said, I've been to more events than 99% of that crowd Iam sure) I'm personally not a fan of that stuff, and just speaking my opinion on that. Again, a personal thing. And I would have puke both times when Armin and ATB played :)
I want to a remember a night for the sets and the energy. Not because one or two key tracks were played to get the crowd going. If a track or two (like SLTS) is what people remember about the night (like people do about last year)...personally, that's not what makes a night memorable to me.
I just though the music last night worked out well across the board. I personally though Fischerpooner stood out, even w/o the classics....mainly because I was surprised by their set. Other than that, true...there was not necessarily an epic point in the night, but from beginning to end the room was hopping or grooving. There was no dead period which you just seem to get with a lot of DJs except for those few key tracks and/or anthems at these big events.
Again, all an IMO.
And you going to all these major festivals and stuff...that's going to make you easily more jaded. Which is fine. I'm hella jaded, especially with club events. My coming out pleased considering my jadedness is prob what drove me to make this post. Everyone should always want to see better....to the more jaded ones, that's more difficult, of course.
I dunno if I saw "better" last night, but I just came away with happy about the music and how it all progressed throughout the night (as I'm a huge huge person an progression, and really frown up when lineups just don't make sense in the end)
And trance music (like last year in the main room) brings out a different vibe than house music (other than Halliwell this year). It's just different. To expect the same type of energy...well, ya shouldn't. But it doesn't mean it's not as much energy. It's just different. But it doesn't mean one is better than the other...unless you strongly prefer one style, one type over the other. I can go to Armin or Markus and go absolutely insane all night jumping up and down then go to a prog house DJ the next week and love the set just as much as I loved Armin or Markus' from the week before and do little to no jumping around at all and come out oft he night just as happy..and all I really did all night was groove to the music. It's just different.
Geeze, did I just say "it's just different" three times in there? lack of sleep and my feet still in pain must be getting to me. :-p
Again, just personal tastes difference. Nothing more, nothing to beat the bush about. I respect your opinion, hope you can respect mine.
Wow, this post has a lot of broken record tidbits in it....should stop using the world "different" or "difference".
Damn I'm tired. Why am I awake.
(Just a reminder that this post is of my own accord. Again, I'd usually stay quiet about this type of thing because of the whole "bias" argument I'm sure smoe peeps wil l bring up, but I just like how everything flowed - considering the lineuip in the mainroom itself) overall.)

Wow!
Overall, I was very pleased by the whole night.
Being more of a house head these days, I was already stoked about the line up.
I thought Dan tore it up, actually...one of the better sets I've seen him play in awhile. (What happend to Donald???...travel plans?)
FSPNR: My first experience with them and was impressed. Not blown away, but I was really pleased to see the crowd into the set.
Deadmau5: Again, I loved how the crowd stayed into the music, the production, etc.
GA: Stayed true to their style, while again keeping the party's flow going in the same line.
Again, really happy with the vibe change from last year...and while I know the lineup took some major hits on these boards...I think Spundae/Skills/Ultra did an excellent job keeping this party going.
Thought the production was great and 2 rooms better than 3. Will Call was easy as hell to get through.
Can't wait for 2010 lineup to be announced. :thepirate

wheres the john o callaghan, jon o bir reviews!?
Trancelover24
So I have finally recovered from this amazing event. All I can say is that Skills and Spundae both did an amazing job booking the trance room. I’m still bewildered of why they used the side room instead of the main room, but I guess trying to sell the show to other house/non trance LoveEvo attendees. I mean the trance headliner was there if they wanted to use him as one (Eddie Halliwell).
Anyway back to the trance room in which I spent all-night except for the last hour. The sound was great, the lasers were amazing and the people there mostly fellow trance heads that knew the melodies and lyrics of tracks being played. It was awesome not having to deal with the epuddles or idiots just walking back and forth just because. Does anyone know who opened the Trance room? I don’t think it was Blix Cannon or maybe ½?
Jon O’Bir definitely and John O’Callaghan both played awesome sets from start to finish. There was never a dull moment on there sets. Tracks I remember that where played by Jon O’Bir where “Never Fade Away (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) “, “Prophase”, “PvD - Cast Away”, “PvD – Home (Cosmic Gate)”, “Giuseppe Ottaviani - Changing Ways”, “Ways and Means”, “Jochen Miller - Brace Yourself “, “Ben Gold feat Senadee – Today” plus many many others, definitely a hard hitting, uplifting banging set.
Menno de Jong had an awesome set but definitely slower tempo than Jon O’Bir. He quickly picked it up though, which was good. Unfortunately for Andy Moor, he was playing at the same time that Deadmau5 was playing causing half of the room to empty out and head on over to the main stage. That did not matter, because Andy played a great set, the type of set and sound that he is known for. Tracks I remember from him were “Faces”, “Love Story”. It was funny to see the room get back within 30 – 40 minutes. I guess the deadmau5 was not playing the style people left to hear in the main room.
John O’Callaghan MY GOD!!! What a set!! There was soo many good tracks played during his set that made everyone go insane. The room got packed and all the trance heads moved to the front of the stage to cheer the man on. It was incredible to see the amount of people that really knew the music and where not just there to “be there”. Tracks I remember from John: Find Yourself, Giuseppe Ottaviani & John O'Callaghan - Our Dimension, Simon Patterson - Always Original Mix, John O'Callaghan - Don't Look Back, Talla 2XLC vs. Robert Burian - Déjà vu, John O'Callaghan feat. Josie - Out Of Nowhere (Stoneface & Terminal Remix), The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides In The Deep (John O'Callaghan Remix), Ram – Ramsterdam, Armin Van Buuren feat. Audrey Gallagher - Hold On To Me, For me the best track PLAYED Claudia Cazacu feat Audrey Gallagher - Free Fallin!!! MY GOD THIS TRACK IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many awesome track guys!!!!!!!
It would had been awesome to have all this guys in the main room, but in the end, for whatever reason that did not happen, I’m Happy that you guys put all these guys together.
When we came in during Groove Armada we were in shock how the last 15 minutes sounded. Nothing against house music but damn, I usually go out to party and dance my ass off not to hear some boring stuff. Highlight from those last minutes was that 80’s track they played. Heheh
Eddie Halliwell in the main room as a closure gave this whole night a special vibe to it. He played a very Paul van Dykish sounding set, that pretty much set that room on fire. His mixing was on point and the energy from the crowd made him played a bunch of tracks… toooooo many actually he was sampling like 2 minutes of each track… heheh fast paced set.
Some random people told me “finally we get good music in this room”.
Anyway this EVENT gets a 10 from me. AWESOME JOB SKILLS & SPUNDAE!

The bigger draw acts were the house acts.
As much as we love Menno, O'Bir, etc....people know Deadmau5, Fischerspooner, DJ Dan, Groove Armada, and even Halliwell more than all those acts on the side room.
And if the main room was mixed with house and trance (and remember, not matter what you think the order should be in, when you deal with the rooms you can't have an act like Deadmau5 play early when he's prob the biggest draw of all the acts....so it wouldn't have been smart to put trance before him...like what happened at etd.POP, which everyone complained about afterwords.
ANd yeah, it'd be hard to go from the fast trance on the side room into Groove Armada. It just kills the progression in your mind...it comes down. Groove Armada made you ...w ell, groove, more than any other DJs. It wasn't about bouncing around or anything. The crowd was moving like you'd see a crowd move to a good Sasha or Digweed set.
Trancelover24, great review! You said it all, even downto the puddles with pushy people walking back and forth for NO REASON! haha
the side room was great because you could enjoy the music without dealing with the thousand of other people, but but less of a vibe can build in a small room. It's not quite a club, and not quite a massive... Kinda weird....
Blix wasn't bad to start
Jon obir surprised me! He was better than I expected for sure! Ended kinda hard though
menno was good but everything kinda blends together with him, he
doesn't play big standout tracks, does that make sense?
Andy, well, it's Andy. Amazing set, finally some vocals, still not as high energy as I hoped but he did an amazing job. Other than a few times when he just kinda turned one track off to go to another. Lime just trainwrecking faces over another song suddenly. Overall he was great (maybe drunk)
JOC was amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect from him, but he was the best set I think. It was like, 2am and my friends and I danced more to him than any of the other artists!
Dyloot and whoever was with him just wasn't a good flow, killed it fast, everyone walked out. We tried to wait but we were tired and the vibe was dead by the time Eddie came on so we left, I'm sad I didn't see him play, JOC just made me dance toooooo hard

HOW HAS NO ONE ELSE REALIZED DEADMAU5 PLAYS THE SAME
SET
E V E R Y TIME!?!?!?
he opens the same, plays the same songs, same mashups, same stuff!!! Then closes the same!
