Too similar to Borat and a bit too cringe-inducing. Worth a few cheap laughs though.

When he interviewed the parents whose children he wanted to use in the film clip, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Americans may well deny that their country is populated by ignorant morons, and of course Cohen targets this stereotype savagely, but when you have parents giving permission for their kids to be exposed to toxic substances just so they can be on television, it really makes one question exactly where the world went wrong.

There are some really sick parts in the movie that have nothing to do with gross-out humor, but just absolutely shocking as to how people act, talk and believe.
There's a part in Borat before a rodeo where some white guy is talking about mad racism and prejudice, and yeah it was funny in a "lol redneck" kind of way.
But an example in this movie, spoiler, Bruno wants to cast a few kids for a risque photo shoot, so he interviews the parents about what they are willing to have the child endure to be featured. The one guy actually said he was willing to have his kid around white phosphorous. ///spoiler
I don't think anyone was even laughing in the theater at that point. It was just like "what the is up with people these days?"

It's a very funny movie throughout, no doubt. It's just that some of the things you see are really eye opening.

Hamas vs hummus was ing hilarious though, I have to give him that.

Hilarious in a ', just stop it, this is awful,' kind of way.

Again, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

The...creatures surrounding the ring were little more than apes. It genuinely astounds me that Western countries with compulsory education can still produce beings like that.

Okay, so you totally missed the point of my post.

Did you not find it off-putting that people could react to even the thought of upcoming violence with such ecstatic looks on their faces? That the thought of people hurting one another (or pretending to) made them so genuinely excited and happy?

A lot of the settings are staged. The talk show does not actually exist, but as far as the audience members were concerned, they were on a real show and were going to be on 'normal' television. The set was built purely for the movie and fake companies and websites set up to attract audience members.

Most of the scenes are setups, but the participants are unaware that the joke is being pulled on them and thus display true reactions.

It was OK

A little boring at times

Not as good as Borat
