Established in 1996 by Alex Whitcombe, Steelfish Records was at the forefront of the mid-90’s dance boom. Treading a line between progressive house and trance, the label was home to chart topping acts Qattara, Orkidea and Graemel.

Re-launched for 2009, Steelfish will be an outlet for new Qattara productions as well as re-works of the highlights from the labels original catalogue. Kicking of the label is a new version of Qattara’s take of Donna Summer’s classic ‘I Feel Love’.

Originally slated for release as part of the 30th Anniversary of I Feel Love, the mix never saw the light of day and has been in demand ever since. This new version has been superbly re-sung by Harry from the band Kubb (Mercury Music).

Are Qattara still producing regularly? Unless they've had a massive change of sound, covering I Feel Love is the last thing I'd have expected them to do.

this remix was originally constructed in 2007 as part of a proposed remix package to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the original release of I Feel Love. The mix never got a commercial release however despite being promo'd. The lads saw it as an apt way to re-start the label, but new original material will follow from Alex Whitcombe, Simon Duffy and Qattara in the next three months. check the myspace link above to hear the forthcoming tracks.

The Qattara mix was promo'd already in 2005 tho, not 2007, along with Masters At Work and Almighty mixes.

What does Groove Armada have to do in the list of DJs? I thought Andy Cocup aka Andy Cato/Big C was still part of Qattara so he'd obviously like his own works... or has he left the project ages ago?

And Qattara did change their sound long before they remixed I Feel Love. The remix sounds nothing like the mid-late 90s Qattara with the epic piano rolls. Doesn't sound anyhing like their latest own release Stereo Drive either. :p
DjArTiN!
isn't quattara from like old school magik days?
