Verbal confrontations (pg. 4)

at what point are we supposed to walk away though when it comes to things like that?

i mean i hear a lot about how you are the bigger person by walking away, etc... but this just allows bullies to continue their behavior.

i am so laid back and friendly with people, i'll talk to anyone, but do NOT put me on the spot or start a verbal confrontation with me in public thinking i will cowardly shy away. quite the opposite actually lol

unless you or a friend/loved one is in serious physical danger you should always walk away.

no but you were pushed to the point where you pretty much had no choice. i mean you DID have a choice, but you decided to stand your gound which is good. it might have been a little much lol but it. did she ever mess with you after that? lol

dude if you knew the amount of i put up with from her when i moved here you would understand. like i said, she had it out from me at the start. she used to talk to me like a baby, like i was stupid and didn't understand what she was saying. she always picked on me during drinking games. she would tell me how my bf at the time was cheating on me with her... just ridiculous . i always brushed it off and laughed but it just got to the point where i was getting tired of it and no one else was telling her to shut up or tone it down. she just had one of those very abrasive personalities and she acted like she ran the show wherever she was.

she went to high school with my friend Matt (my ex's best friend) and so Matt and my ex would coordinate it so that we wouldn't ever run into each other.

last i heard she became a stripper at this total white trash titty-bar. she drove a mustang too. major lulz.

WTF myra. i cannot believe you put up with that!!!! you are nuts.

and i wasn't saying you did the wrong thing, but i just meant that you clearly had a bunch of built up anger and turned around and lost it and threw a full beer bottle at her (which is great btw lol). i think the bitch had it coming too. i can't believe she would say your bf was cheating on you with her.

i mean as much as i get worked up, i know how to keep calm for the most part and i'm actually pretty witty when i'm in a situation like that. sometimes it's best to just crack a wise ass joke at their expense and walk away, leaving them confused.

and nou you're right, i know what you mean. i was bullied my seniior year of high school by a group of black girls so i guess this is a touchy subject for me and as soon as a black girl messes with me i'm like, "OH YEA U IN BITCH? IN THE PARKING LOT....NOW!" :stongue:

Yea I dont know, I have never been in the position in real life where I have been bullied hard, I mean yea there are times where someone is a **** to me but for the most part I don't let it phase me much. Usually if someone is riding my ass I know why, its cause I caused it. :p

Like you guys. :)

i know! i mean looking back i probably should have said or done something a lot sooner... but i put up with a lot of the same in high school from girls like her, so i had learned to put up with it. girls that age can be such cunts. i didn't want to be one of them. plus i think it bothered her more that i always just laughed it off.

what bothers me most is that my ex and all of the guys in the group of friends were too chicken- to say anything to her, so they just ignored it. it would have been nice for someone to have my back and try to make me feel comfortable in a new state with a whole new group of friends.

it's a lot easier said than done to walk away if you have any self respect. i mean until it happens to you and you are completely caught off guard and someone puts you on the spot and starts yelling at you in public....it embarrasses you and you get this big adrenaline rush/rage and it's hard to think clearly, etc... sometimes you just react.

no . she's lucky i wasn't around. i'm super protective of my family and friends. i would have ripped her a new the minute i witnessed any of that. lol

yeah i didn't spend much time after that trying to make friends with those people. they were your typical Midwestern "brahs" and cute-faced but chubby pot-smoking durrrr girls that hung around them.

good for a fun house party, not good for much else. :p

Haha, im the total opposite in those situations, as soon as someone starts going on pure emotion, as in yelling at me and being a total then I know that I am in control of that situation.

People in fits of rage are usually easier to manipulate because that raw flow of emotion is easily swayed one way or another because they are no longer thinking rationally. :)

Thats the whole point of trolling/flaming on the internet. Get someone to flip out and then use that against them. It works just as well in real life too. :p
