speeding ticket

So I got my first ever speeding ticket for going 16mph over the limit. 61 in a 45... This happened on Peachtree Industrial Blvd just north of the Brookhaven MARTA station by a Chamblee officer.

Since it is my first, I can plead "nolo" and not get points on my license but still have to pay the fine. Will my insurance company be able to see this ticket if I plead nolo?

Do I have any better options?

P.S. ing 5-0. Couldn't give me a warning. Couldn't have lowered my speed one point for a lower price tier.

I just got my 33 over like 2 weeks ago.

I have no clue how it works im pretty sure your insurance already knows because I was notified of mine its just what happens in court if you dont want your insurance premiums to go up just get a lawyer if your not strapped on cash and he makes it go *poof*

that does suck.

zeerobot is right... if you want things to stay off your record or "worked out" in a reasonable way, it's probably best to have an attorney.

traffic ticket points are completely separate from insurance points. Although they usually fall in line with each other

I know in South Carolina the best thing you can do is show up to court early and ask the DA to plead to a lesser offense. Show up with a lawyer in SC and they will try to make you go to a Jury Trial, either way hiring a lawyer here is a bad option and most of the time will result in more court cost and attorney fees

In North Carolina the best thing you can do is hire an attorney to talk to the DA to get your ticket turned in to a non-moving violation such as improper equipment. I happen to like the way NC works their tickets even though its a total scam. Hiring an attorney here for $300 to $400 is way cheaper than the insurance hikes you could see if you did not.

I only had one ticket in Georgia and it was over 10 years ago, I showed up to court early and asked for help and they reduced it to 9 over instead of 14 over.

If you get a ticket in Florida (which I never have). You want to contact the ticket clinic. www.theticketclinic.com they will set you right with no driving school almost %100 of the time I have heard. And cheap too.

I did notice the ticket clinic offers consultations for other states. Take a look at it www.ticketclinic.com

Insurance points for speeding do fall in the following brackets
1 to 9mph over
10 to 24mph over
and 25+ mph over

If you get anything in the way of a moving violation it is best to fall in to the 1 to 9 area. Insurance companies always see tickets moving or non-moving but non-moving will not result in insurance points.

I hope this helps.

Pretty sure GA reports it to insurance if it is over 14. I was going 15 over once and the COP was nice enough (to bother pulling me over and) to mark it as 14 so it wouldn't/shouldn't affect insurance. That's what he said, anyway. And as far as I know... it hasn't shown up and I've switched insurance companies a few times since.
