Anyone Ride the Amtrak?

When i go visit my friends in downtown San Diego I take the Train since it's actually cheaper than driving, plus parking is not readily available. Anyone else use it? I've actually been able to take my last few trips for free due to the points ive earned on their guest rewards.
IF this high speed rail service ever gets built it will actually be faster to take the train from LA to SF than to deal with the airport. |

definitely less of a headache than driving thats for sure. I too have taken it to SD. took a late train, partied, waited a couple hours then took the first one back to LA in the morning.
worth it! |

less! ive taken from SB-SD for about $28(I use a 20% off code for travel from SB county)
Sounds like it might be cheaper to buy a ticket from carpinteria-san diego so the 20% can be applied.

if u stay at a hotel like the one we partied at in June(IVY) its $30+ per night for parking... |

| its $34/$48 each way Union Station to downtown SD...so for 2 people it costs way more than driving even with parking. having said that i've been wanting to do it myself one of these days. and somewhere around here i think i have some 50% off coupons....gotta dig them up. |
