I did this with a friend in Berlin a couple of years ago.

Great experience. Odd at first, but you get used to it. I like to close my eyes at clubs for the same reasons. Your sense of touch and of sound are amplified. I would assume going with a lover would be all the more rewarding.

It will feel odd and perhaps somewhat unnecessary to have light again afterwards.

Order the surprise plate! We couldn't guess what we were eating (but were pleasantly surprised)

I'm taking Michael there tomorrow as a mystery date. He is total freaked out as all that I told him is
1)Its a new experience
2) Youll learn how other people live life
3) You wont notice anything
4) We might as well leave our watches and phones at home
5) Its a bit of work for your food

Hahaha...that's the way to go. :)

I went with a friend on Friday and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I can't wait to go with a big group of people.

Trying to do something as simple as eat dinner when you are blind makes you appreciate your eye sight. It was weird to hear everyone around you having a great time, but not being able to see a single thing.

I would suggest ordering a surprise dish, makes the experience that much better when you have no idea what you are eating. We still don't know what our starter was.

Dating show. They go on "blind dates" and don't see the other person until the date if finished. I've seen a commercial for it too. You may have mixed it up b/c a new season of Hell's Kitchen is starting soon and there's been commercials for that too!

I think this is really interesting and would love to do it. But I'm scared of the dark :nervous:

nope. it was definitely hell's kitchen.

http://www.realitynewsonline.com/cg...7058.art&page=1 (read down to where it talks about Opaque).

I have seen ads for that Dating in the Dark show but I think it's not eating that they do in the dark on that one. lol.

cool idea, but one thing I can't do is eat with no lights.

listen to tunes, talk, drink, fornicate, make out like a grade schooler...but eat?

What if you had a hair in your food? :nervous:

They have this in Shanghai but there is something about Chinese cuisine and not being able to see what I'm eating that scares the off me

yeah. what if someone jizzed on your food and you're like, what is this creamy sauce? it's got extra tang to it

There is obviously some degree of trust involved that they won't do this...
