famous friends

I have a close friend who is a fairly established actor in Hollywood and recently he's been really getting on my nerves because I can see how his job is changing his personality for the worse. Sure, he's had parts in some great films/tv shows (Blow, Butterfly Effect, X-Files), and it's pretty cool to say I know somebody famous, but his lack of character (pun intended) is often astonishing. He's constantly inattentive and argumentative, hardly even hears me when I'm telling a story but expects me to drop my and listen in whenever he starts up with one of his stories about being on set. He'll actually interrupt conversations at parties to be like "One time when I was on set..."

To be fair I haven't known him for that long (we met 3 years ago in the summer after graduating high school), so I'm not really sure if his behavior is a result of his job, or if he's just naturally sort of an , but being around him never used to be that annoying. He started out as a child actor, and over the years he's accrued enough money in trust funds and monthly royalties to be pretty much set for life, but he's so stupid with the way he spends it. The other day I mentioned I hadn't seen his custom Fender P-Bass in a while, and he was like "yeah I think somebody stole that out of my car, but check out this new bass I'm gonna buy!" And instead of learning how to roll his own joints, he'll go to a club and pay $7 for one. These are small things I guess, but I think they really show a person's true character. Am I just overreacting? Do you know any famous people, and has their job changed their personality or behavior?

haha... Man that sounds like what I would expect to hear about people starting to make it big in acting. I have a hard time relating to people who think they're so important just because they memorize lines and play dress up in front of a camera.

I don't know any famous people in terms of acting though... actually, check that. I went to high school with this kid named Andrew Leeds that became a broadway star. I remember him hardly ever being in school... and he had a really high pitched girly voice. Greatest memory ever about him was during a softball game in P.E. class, he was pitching and I blasted a ing laser right back to the mound for a direct hit on his nose. He was jewish and had a huge beak... that thing exploded like a pinata. It was awesome.
