Heck, I had one guy want me to pay $20,000.00 for a garage he had added onto his house because he was affraid he might fall on the snow.

I don't get it, can't you refuse to pay these people? Doubtless that a few months of physiotherapy is more than enough for 90% of the people who are actually injured, which is probably only 10% of the people who claim to be.

I've actually seen a scam first-hand from some Russian immigrant (probably illegal, I never did find out) and his sleazebag lawyer operating on commissions... and they settled with him, because apparently $200,000 was far enough away from the $2 million he wanted to sue for even though he jumped right in front of the car and never actually hit anything except the road, and was nowhere near an actual light or intersection. The only thing this douche rocket deserved to get was a swift kick in the gonads.

The present auto insurance was initially put in place by Harris.

You can refuse to pay for treatments however; its not as easy as just saying sorry we're not paying for more treatment. The biggest problem is not the people who are injured....they are just pawns in the game played by legal reps and treatment facilities. The treatment facilities submit treatment plans to the insurance company and the insurance company can either accept the treatment plans or refuse them. If they refuse the treatment plan then the injured party has to be examined by an independent doctor to see if the treatment plan that was submitted is reasonable. The treatment facilities can submit as many treatment plans as they want and there is nothing holding them accountable for the recommendations they make in the treatment plans. The insurance companies have to pay for the costs to have the doctors examine the injured parties. Then there are assessment facilities who send in requests for ortho assessments, psych assessment, neuro assessments, etc, etc, etc. when the injured parties don't even need these types of assessments. The scams start right from the tow truck drivers to the legal reps, to the treatment facilities, to the assessment facilities and to the injured people. In a lot of cases the injured parties don't even know whats going on.

Horrible. So how do Quebec and most of the continental USA get around it?

I've been driving for 20 years with no tickets or accidents. I had a claim last year when some old dude rear ended me and all I claimed was for the damaged exhaust system and bumper. No wonder the claims adjuster seemed shocked every time I talked to her when I said I was fine and didn't need any therapy or treatment. ing people scamming the system.

Quebec can afford that because of the stupid equalization payments they get.

As much of a Harris supporter I was and still am I do believe it was his government who changed the insurance system to the current one we have.

Must be a very stressful and endless pain in the ass job, I really hope they pay you well.

Wanted to ask you what happens with a total lost accident?

Party “A” rear ends party “B” @ full force.
Party “B” car is a total lost

-Who’s insurance goes up?
-Who’s insurance pays for the car damages at the total end of the settlement of party “B”?
-How much is the towing of party “B” car?
-Does party “B” insurance goes up within the next 2 years?
(Even when he or she is not at fault)
