better get both
headphones are more likely to use in long stand-by's, such as flights, waiting rooms, train, bus or just when you have nothing to do and nothing disturbs you
earbuds are for fitness, walking, running and anything involving physical maneuvers |

| earbuds suck. i can't take them a minute. my ears start to hurt and the sound is uber unless you get an expensive pair. i bought the Sennheiser PX100. they are compact and the sound is orgasmic:tongue3 |

| Those earbuds are really nice, I have a pair like those and they block out the noise (they are basically earplugs) and the different sized fittings allow you to find whats comfortable. I don't even notice they are on. |

| While sitting at computer I use my HD595s and while listening to my zune I use some randy sony earbuds. If I listen with earbuds too long and often though I get ear aches. I usually try to clean my earbuds often with a disinfectant cloth because an ear infection is easy if you use them a lot. |

supra- for most use.
circum for long durations
in-ear for gym/golf |

I like the idea of in-ear buds, and generally feel quite comfortable...up until the point in which I pull them out after extended use; definitely a very uncomfortable feeling.
Closed-back headphones, ftw. |
