thematic music, anyone?

doesn't necessarily have to be classical, but a theme to some movie, video game, play, etc.

growing up as a kid i played the final fantasy series, so the music stuck with me. nobuo uematsu & hitoshi sakimoto are responsible for some of my favorite songs, such as this one:

not as intricate as mozart or vivaldi, but dammit it never fails to at least brighten my mood :D

there's a previous thread about classical music somewhere, & nobuo uematsu's final fantasy themes made it into there, which is fine & all but i'm sure there's great theme music out there that's non-classical, too.

so show me some badass themes!

Ah. I've always been inspired by Uematsu.. I remember even doing a lot of 'orchestral' VST tracks back in the day for a FFT-like game my friend was making at the time...

Can't track down most of them now :( but I did find this little World-Map theme xD http://members.cox.net/exogen1/spirit_venture.mp3 (mind you, I didn't know anything about mixing and production way back then hahah, just thought it would be worth some nostalgic laughs to put it up.)

Cheers.

Definitely check out Joe Hisaishi, he did the theme music for many of the Studio Ghibli anime movies:

Also, Ryuichi Sakamoto might be worth looking into. For game music, Masashi Hamauzu (SaGa Frontier 2, FF13), Falcom Sound Team JDK (Ys), Yuzo Koshiro (Actraiser, Streets of Rage, Shenmue), Kou Otani (Shadow of the Colossus), and Yoko Shimomura (Live A Live, Kingdom Hearts) are worth checking out.

My bad i misread the title for therapeutic music lol, I have not heard the above in any video game....
