I totally agree, last Sunday, we caught Ferry's show on the way back from Long Beach and is was so good. We just got the car and have not used FM since. People need to upgrade to XM, there is always something good. Did you hear AVB's show at noon? |

I dont know what they did at Pulse but the reception seems to be getting better out here in Central NJ.
As for satellite radio, Area on XM/Sirius is awesome. Got to listen to it on Jetblue recently and Marcus Schulz was on. :D |

Satellite radio will be dead within the next 5 years.
I was a radio major at my comm college and i learned that neither XM or Sirius ever made a profit. NOT ONCE!! The reason is because they don't have commercials, meaning they survive purely from subscriptions. The majority of Americans (Sat radio only exists in this hemisphere, possibly only in the US and Canada maybe, I forget) do not care as much about music as we do. Since AMFM radio is free, they're cool wit that.
Now, with that being said. Eco.. if you get a show on Pulse that would be ING HUGE. They have pretty good music on during the overnight daypart midnight-5/6am. But of course, during their peak hours i.e. morning drive and afternoon drive, it gets pretty corny. Johnny Budz is solid imo. But if you got a show Eco. watch out. I'd pick you over DJ CLue or Funk Flex for sure.
Also, Pulse is 87.7 which is considered 'under the dial' Anything below 92.1 i believe, is reserved by the FCC for non-profit/not for profit, whatever, organizations. i.e. public access, college/university, NPR, etc. I wonder how Pulse 87 is below the dial. if anyone could shed some light on that it'd be great.
Also, the one thing I didnt like about their fundraising drive was they never said how much they needed. They just wanted money money money. They should have set a goal or something. been more informative rather than "give us your money or we're done" to me that sounded like "give us your money or we take a pay cut and the owner foots the electricity bill out of his own pocket"
What they need to do is get on top of their ratings index or whatever. People need to start filling those out, so that Pulse gets higher ratings, then they take those higher ratings to business who will by ad space. Thats how radio makes money. They need to hire better account execs maybe. |

| I also wondered about how they were 87. I remember over a year ago, when their office was on Coney, they were struggling. They promoted an event for charity I was involved with and every few weeks, the management changed. I think it is a better business decision to get bought out by Clear Channel and have actual management with a business plan. |

NO WAY!! clear channel is what's wrong with radio my man. That is what i learned at college. lol. they HATE clear channel. It has lead to 'vanilla' programming where everything is the same. same songs, same rotation, its just a formula. There is no personality. That's why I was so surprised about a year and change ago when I heard pulse. Hopefully they just get they ratings up, like i said. Boooo pizza hut, hooray locals. booo clear channel, hooray pulse. thats what i mean |

I am a woman, not a dude! You would be surprised, in other areas, Clear Channel has a lot of alt programming. I think NY air time is too expensive to offer it here. They do own a lot of those new stations between major ones. That is the kind of space I mean, sorry, I should have clarified. Funny that you used the term vanilla programming. If I feel comfy enough here, one day I'll post links to some of my work. I wrote something interesting in how the use of vanilla has become a mainstream expression, but with humor. I hate Pizza Hut too, yay Di Fara! |

my bad.
Ya know what IS nice though, is clear channel's HD 1 and HD 2 stations. now THAT is where the future of radio is imo. cause its still free for the listener as long as they have an HD receiver (not that expensive) and the programming is better and will continue to get better. word |
