the difference is he would have an email address using his company's name in the domain.
for example, my email is @tranceaddict.com but it is forwarded to my gmail so i can push email on my blackberry. |
Yeah but I still come across a lot of professionals that use gmail as a primary source email extension. Hotmail can also be used on blackberries now, I just found it on a buddies. Hotmail also charges for larger account space, that's why I wonder why people react that way to it.
Its a pioneer for email addresses. |

ya but think of it this way...
say you meet someone that works for "abc incorporated" and they give you a business card (or are doing some sort of business thing) and the card says their name, number and . dont you think it would look more professional if the email said ? |

So what do you do for a living? Do you think having @tranceaddict.com after an e mail is professional?
If I used that e mail to give to clients they would be like "WTF". |

Yeah I've also thought about that. I just think they should be given more credit. But I also use my rogers or ryerson address for more important reasons than my hotmail. probably because it has a juvenile name to it lol. |

I too subscribe your way of thinking on this matter and either a Hotmail or Gmail email account as opposed to an address is suspicious. It lends the appearance of being a "disposable" company. You wouldn't invest much interest in someone that doesn't look like they're in it for a long haul. |

While to some extent I would agree with your school of thought there is the exception. As I have stated, the latter is in the works. So there is no argument there. Having worked with many companies I can tell you it is not a new practise. In fact, many exec have a hotmail or gmail account to enhance their communications. I can assure you the benefit of having a web based solution is practical and standard in most corporations. Having said that, if I were to brush off any companies that used this medium I would miss out on many lucrative business connections. Just something to think about. |
