Hey Kel,
There is sooo much you guys can do in and around Playa. The Riu is pretty close to 5th Ave which is lined with tons of shops, restaurants, clubs, lounges you name it. You'll probably need to cab it there unless you guys are looking for some exercise, you guys could probably walk one way and then cab it the other way but cabs are really cheap.
I would suggest going to Xel-ha or Xcaret one day. These are like wildlife parks with all sorts of water activities and cool stuff to do. I'm sure your hotel will no doubt have buses to these places.

Also, if you are looking for another day trip you should go to Tulum where there are Mayan Ruins. Here is one site I found with some info...

Since we are going in September I'll be sure to write down the names of our favorite restaurants there. There is an Argentinian Steakhouse that is ah-mazing and also an Italian Restaurant that we love.
You guys will have a great time! |

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!
Keryn: I know we are doing a Tulum and Xelha combo tour, which includes a tour of the ruins and snorkeling in the natural aquarium with the limestone formations. () Its like this 12-13 hour excursion with free food and drinks and all that jazz from our hotel. :) I wasnt quite as sure about xcaret, it looks tres touristy, no? or am I totally just picturing it wrong? lol
we are big fans of snorkeling....anyone know if Isla Mujeres or cozumel would be a better option?
scoops: wth are cenotes? lol i just started researching *actual* activites yesterday and dont have any idea what you are talking about TBH. ;) |
