Where to start with songs?

Hey guys, I'm sort of trying to get into producing, using FL Studio. I have no idea where to ever start on a song. I always work on a like say a beat, or maybe a melody, and then I have no idea what to do with a MIDI of say, Gouryella when I get one. Any suggestions, ideas, comments, would be helpful.

Eh, just happens. I just add a baseline, some percs, chords, sub melody and put em all together and see what happens. If I like it ill just get lost in it working on it for hours. If not I scrap it.

Haha my bad about that didn't quite know where but one of these days I guess after messing around I'll get something I like.

Break your work down in a matter that works for you. Nothing is worse than staring into a blank sequencer and wondering what the hell to do.
It usually helps if you have a melody playing in your head, work around it, do a break you'd like to have around it, and then start adding other elements, drums, bass, general groove, the like.
When you have drums and bass done, you can do mixin & out, see how it works out, then think about what you want the non-main parts sound like with the elements you've already done, then it's just a matter of making nice transitions and finalizing your ideas.

Try making the important stuff first, then go towards the details, it helps if you're a beginner. When you'll get the hang of it, you could start building your track from first beat onward and it'll come out as you wanted, but it takes some producing to get to there.

Anyway, try to not over complicate things and do stuff that "falls in your ear" first, then build the rest around it.
